Verdict

RIVERA LOU (7) chased a handy mare when he resumed with a 4.5 metre second at this circuit and distance last week. Draws one spot wider but should be improved and this race looks to have less depth. Leading hope. MAJOR ICON (4) drew wide and worked when midfield last week but had put together a series of top-three finishes here prior. Led from deeper when winning two back so can take advantage of the better draw. SURF ACE (6) wasn't too far off the placegetters in a higher-graded race last week and did manage back-to-back wins at this circuit and distance last month. RIO DE JANEIRO BLUE (2) won from a much wider barrier here three back and has been solid since, clocking in second last week. Up in grade but draws to be competitive.
