THE IRISH EAGLE (6) has been competitive of late and kept the ball rolling last time when 3.5 metres from the winner in second over this distance at Newcastle. That was his third runner-up result on the trot so the hoof is on the till. Draws wide but with even luck can break through. POWERLINC (1) has come from wide barriers at his last couple but led from this draw at Penrith last month so has the speed to give a sight. NIFTY STUDLEIGH (7) may need some luck from the back row but could be a threat after a better effort last start, recording a 2.3m third at Maitland. COUNTRY MAJOR (3) draws well and placed from the back row the last two times he raced here.
