Verdict

ESPRIT DU JOUR (5) was prominent from the outset and fought on for second last start over 6f at this track, making it three minor placings in a row. Drawn to go forward and is a likely improver with strong winning prospects. JUNGLE FEVER (1) tackled a better race last start and finished 11th at Eagle Farm over 7f, beaten 8 lengths. That effort followed a win there two starts back. Better placed this time and can do much better. THE HAMO (4) is back from a spell of five-and-a-half months and does go well when fresh, including a win to launch last campaign over 5 ½f at Ipswich. Fitter for a recent trial win at Doomben and should be prominent. RUSSIAN RIPPER (6) raced on the pace over 5 ½f at Gatton last time and went on to win by 2 lengths. Has been in strong form this campaign, registering three wins. Deserves respect on his best figures.
