Verdict

OCTA DE LAGO (2) improving gelding who can keep the winning momentum going from the good gate. Snagged back from the sticky gate before circling the field with a tenacious victory over 6f at Gosford. Gets a much better set up for this and looks the one to beat again. INOUE (1) back to his right grade today after failing to get through the heavy (8) going when a tiring seventh over 5 ½f at Rosehill in BM78 grade. Comes here in peak condition and has the talent to go win this. TURNED DOWN (5) underrated Bathurst gelding looking for this trip second-up. Covered plenty of ground in the run on resumption, with a respectable sixth over 5 ½f in the Gilgandra Town Plate. Wadick sticks and has the ability to take this out. CAN'T TOUCH THIS (6) on the quick backup after taking control early before being swamped late by Miss Busslinger when fourth over 6 ¾f at Beaumont (Newcastle). Winning apprentice goes back on and will give them something to catch again.
