Verdict

A few of these were easily accounted for in the Fred Best three weeks ago and find a nice race to turn things around. Heading that list is NAVY PILOT (1) who was a most impressive first-up winner at Bendigo before failing to get warm in the Eagle Farm Group 3 last start. Ideally placed to bounce back to form. PLATINUM PANTHEON (2) finished sixth in the Fred Best then backed that up seven days later with an excellent effort in the Qld Day Stks over 6f, flashing home for second. Draws a far better gate this time and looks a serious chance coming back up in trip. HILLIER (4) was there on the bend but dropped right out in the Fred Best when second-up. Was only 3.6 lengths away in the Caulfield Gns last October so he is good enough to test this field. CALL DA VINCI (3) has raced here twice at the trip for two wins so from the inside alley he is certainly one to consider. LOCKYER (8) needed the run first-up in the Qld Day Stks. Can improve over an extra ¾f today.
