WEEKEND SPIRIT (6) did a big job from the back to place here over 6 ¾f and then stepped up to 1 m at Doomben beaten a neck after positioning forward. Will be near peak and Maloney is a key jockey engagement. Well placed to break his duck. PASS THE PEAK (5) was beaten 2.4L in the same contest enjoying the longer journey. He also presents fourth up and can improve into the finish with average luck. OAKFIELD GALAXY (3) grabbed a distant placing over 1 m on the same day following a 1L defeat at the Sunshine Coast. Maps well and should be around the mark. CLASSIC SHIRAZ (8) presented second-up in that race and was still short of fitness. A better effort is likely.
