AREMKAY (6) comes through stronger maidens where she's held her own without threatening. The rise in trip should suit third-up and she's drawn kindly. Great chance to break through. SHAWNEE BOY (5) was first-up at Kilcoy over a shorter journey despite being near the top of the betting, but blinkers go back on and he sports visors for the first time. Bigger trip suits on the short back-up and he can play a more significant role this time. OAKFIELD GALAXY (4) was a big improver last start on the Poly when chasing gamely into second. With confidence and the 7lbs claimer sticking he deserves more respect. CHANCE DE LUNE (2) was better at the Gold Coast last time when firm in the market and is another that can make his presence felt on a short turnaround.

Rabbit

Also known as a pacemaker; this is a horse with no expected chance of winning but is used to prompt a quick pace on the front end of the race to the benefit of a stablemate who is a closer.

Fractions

The times recorded during the race; with timing starting just past the gate or when the gates open, then parroted for the quarter, half, three-quarters etc. Used as an indication of ability and speed.

Bobble/Stumble

A slip or a duck from a horse trying to leave the starting gates, often caused by the surface giving way under the feet. This can range from a mild misstep to a stumble down to their knees.
