ELNAJEEB (2) returns after a 19-week spell for a second campaign. Showed ability when last in work, the high point a close third over this distance at Doomben. Two recent trials should have him forward enough to make a successful return. CARPET RIDE (4) raced for the first time in ten months last time out over 5f at the Sunshine Coast and did a fine job to close strongly to get up for second. Draws a wide gate but should tighten right up with that run under the belt. Hard to hold out over an extra ½f today. THE GRAND DUCHY (7) had every chance but struggled at the end of 6f at Doomben recently. Deserves another chance in this easier maiden and coming back to 1½f. MAJOR HOT (14) is a chance if she can find the form that saw her beaten just a neck over this distance at Beaudesert two starts back. Market watch on Matthew Dunn's first starter FRENCH MELODY (5) who hasn't been all that far away in her last couple of trials.
