Verdict

CROWN LEGEND (3) returned from a spell last start over 6f at Gilgandra and caught the eye late, getting up for second and making up around five lengths from the time they straightened. Has a terrible draw to contend with so probably goes back again but over the extra ½f can finish right over the top. TRIPLE TRIPLE (5) led all the way to salute over this distance at Taree two back. Took on a tougher race over 6f at Gosford last time and found that beyond him. Better placed back up to 6 ½f in the country so watch for a return to form. The lightly raced AFRICAN DIAMOND (8) has enjoyed a let-up since just missing over 7 ¼f at Muswellbrook on 28 November. Goes well when fresh so she is right in contention. PICKAXE (2) is a new arrival in the Connie Greig stable and is one for the exotics first-up from a four-month break. The lightly raced YACHT GIRL (12) has been freshened up since the first poor run of her career a month ago. Worth forgiving.
