Verdict

HAIKU STAR (1) was beaten a whisker carrying 61kgs in a similar race to this over today's course and distance two back. Outclassed subsequently in open company at Inverell. Back in his right race today and looks very hard to stop. SNATCHREILLY (2) led all the way to win gamely over today's distance at Tamworth two back then failed narrowly last time when attempting a repeat performance over 5 ½f at Armidale. Will prove tough to reel in coming back to five furlongs. NEVERMISTA (4) made it an incredible seven minor placings from as many runs this prep when runner-up over 5 ½f at Gilgandra last start. Placed six from eight at today's journey so he is a must for trifecta and first four punters. POWERSTONE (8) has two wins and four placings from eight runs at Gunnedah. Must be considered. GELSEY (5) is back from a seven-month break. In the top four at all three fresh runs to date so include her in all the exotics.

Form hard to fault. At the latest run raced right near the speed and boxed on, won by 0.8 len at Armidale Mdn-Sw January 5 over 5 ½f defeating Rubinsky carrying 122lbs at $9. The start before that 4th of 9 at Beaumont (Newcastle) Ctry Mdn on December 16 over 6 ¾f, 4.5 len behind Leica Queen carrying 122lbs at $3. Returned a very strong figure on that occasion so she should measure up to this class.

Horse Racing Basic Terms

Also Eligible

A horse that is entered but does not draw into the body of the field due to too many entries, and thus is not permitted to start unless there are enough scratches to shrink the field size.

Track Bias

The term used to identify which parts of the track or running styles are producing more winners.

Tack

The equipment the horse wears, including saddle and bridle. A jockey typically has their own racing saddle, placed on each horse they ride just before the race.
