Verdict

GAULTIER (1) started a firm fav on resumption with a fighting second over 6 ½f at Hawkesbury with the 130lbs. Finds a much easier contest and can get the Maiden win out of the way. RING OF FIRE (3) has a host of gear changes for this and resumes after turning in some handy performances on the country circuit. Well drawn and can play a leading role. VAN HOVEN (2) is a well bred gelding on debut for the Waterhouse & Bott team who has impressed in his most recent trials. He's had some issues judging by how spaced his trials have been, but he looks to be going well this time in and can fire on debut. SANCHUELO (7) is an Almanzor gelding on debut and his recent Randwick trial was solid. Can make a good fist of it on debut.
