Verdict

Can't write any of these off. DUCK EGG BLUE (7) will find this a lot easier than her respectable last start fifth in the Listed South Pacific Classic over 7f at Randwick. At her best over today's journey. Enjoys the run of the race from the inside gate and despite taking on older horses she looks the one to beat. Another three-year-old filly in TRAFALGAR SQUARE (9) could be the threat. Doesn't fire early in her preps so the two moderate efforts since resuming are excusable. Draws a decent gate for a change and is beautifully weighted on the limit. THE GREAT HOUDINI (1) cruised home first-up in midweek company at the Kensington track. Generally holds the form second-up so another big run is on the cards. MONTE KATE (3) was a month between runs before her last start failure at Randwick. Fitter now and capable of a top four finish. APACHE BREEZE (4) draws in a lot closer today and can improve on his last start effort at this track.
