Verdict

SUPERMASSIVE (7) was backed from 7.0 to 4.8 on debut last start and the money was almost right. The son of Snitzel settled just off the pace then powered late to miss by a neck at the end of 6f at Kembla. Will take a lot from that run and he clearly looks the one to beat. UNITED STATES (8) returns from a 172-day break which followed an unsuccessful two-run prep in Brisbane. Tackled a couple of Group 2 races during the carnival and wasn't up to the task. Best form in lesser company certainly stacks up so he is right in this. FUADEE (1) showed good natural speed and held on well for second on debut over 5 ½f at Hawkesbury recently. Kept fresh since that run five weeks ago and will give a good account again. LA BASILIQUE (11) probably should have finished a touch closer when runner-up on debut over this distance at Kembla last start. In the mix with some improvement to come. EMERY (9) was good late in a strong form race last time out. Finds an extra ½f today which helps.
