WEEKEND SPIRIT (2) made late inroads without threatening when fresh from a spell last start over 6 ¾f at Doomben. Has placed twice at today's distance from three attempts. Tackles an easier maiden here and with that run under the belt looks the one to beat. STEADY ON (5) raced on the speed but lacked the turn of foot required when midfield over 6 ¾f at Doomben last time out. Fitter for two runs back from a spell and seems in need of this sort of journey now. BASSETT'S CHOICE (7) is 12 runs into a maiden campaign but is holding up well. Battled on evenly to finish fourth most recently over 6 ½f at the Gold Coast. Draws a nice gate and should appreciate the step up in distance. TAGA SMILE (6) ran a better race last start when coming off a six-week lay-off. Fitter and in the mix over a bit more ground. BOOMTOWN LADDIE (3) wasn't far away at Dalby last time and is worth including in trifectas and first fours.
