ONE RUN WON (3) raced handy into the straight but didn't run out a strong 7f at the Illawarra Grange last start. Best guide is two back over 6 ¼f at Newcastle when in the frame in a Class 1. That form reads nicely in a race of this quality. GEM TYCOON (4) worked home impressively to be beaten just 0.6 lengths last time out over 5 ½f at this track. Perfectly placed over an extra ½f at the third run back from a spell. Just needs luck from an outside gate to be right in the finish. NAFANUA (6) extracted from a pocket to close well and grab third when resuming over 5 ¾f at Illawarra Grange recently. Lightly raced mare who should be a key contender coming back a little in grade today. WRITTEN GOLD (1) returns from a three-month break for new trainer Sharon Jeffries. A five-year-old who has had a lot of issues and only been to the races six times. Best form puts him right in contention. BRASS MONKEYS (5) is a chance dropping back from 7f to his pet distance.
