STORM MERCHANT (1) has led for the judge at both runs this prep but been overhauled late on each occasion, most recently over 6f at Port Macquarie on a heavy track. Lightly raced three-year-old who is still improving. Has the gate speed to cross from out wide and should take plenty of catching. DECADAD (6) might be better off on the poly tracks but is racing in good style so is an each-way hope. RHETORIC (4) put the writing on the wall with back-to-back placings before delivering last start. In good form and could go on with the job. Last-start placegetter DARLING TAKE CARE (11) is capable of playing a role again.
