Verdict

DAYTONA PETE (1) sat close to the speed first-up but didn't make any inroads when 1.3L off the winner. The rise in trip is a big plus and he showed sharp improvement when second-up last campaign. Ready to go to another level now and can return to winning form. POND MASTER (2) drops back to 6f after being well beaten over further a fortnight ago. He is a third-up winner in the past and Pike sticks with the gelding. Still has upside and can get back to his best now. GOD'S GATE (5) is a colt on resumption for the Parnham stable and has shown plenty of speed in his previous campaign. Suspect he'll do the same today and if he can pick up where he left off, he'll be hard to hold out. KING HIT (3) trialled well coming into this and won't be far away. RIPPER FAROOQ (4) was tested in stakes grade last campaign and moved well in a recent trial. Right in the mix.
