The Miami Heat will visit the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday night.
After sneaking into the playoffs as an eighth-seed team, the Heat shattered expectations by toppling the first-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in five games in the first round. A solid win in a six-game series against the New York Knicks have them eyeing their first NBA Finals appearance since the 2019-20 bubble playoffs.
The Celtics have had a surprisingly rocky journey to the Eastern Conference Finals. They haven’t always looked like the team that ended the regular season as the two seed, but they’ll look to build on the momentum from their 24-point Game 7 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in their previous series.
Game 1 tips off tonight at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on TNT. Here’s how the two teams stack up for Wednesday’s game at TD Garden.

Heat vs. Celtics Game 1 Analysis
The Miami Heat have looked like an entirely different team in the playoffs than the team that had a negative point differential in the regular season. They have played two fewer playoff games than their Eastern Conference Finals opponent and will look to leverage that advantage on the road tonight.
Jimmy Butler has come alive in the playoffs, averaging 8.2 more points, 0.7 more rebounds, and 0.1 more assists per game than he did in the regular season. No player left in the playoffs is averaging more points per game than his impressive average (31.1 PPG).
The Celtics outscored the 76ers by 62 points in the Eastern Conference semis but still needed seven games to take the series. They’ll need to play more consistently going forward if they want to reach the finals for the second straight season. They won’t necessarily need Jayson Tatum to score 51 points in every game as he did in their last game, but it certainly couldn’t hurt.
