Gaudreau Scratched From 2026 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile

Trainer Chad Brown announced Wednesday that Gaudreau has been scratched from the 2026 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile after the colt spiked a fever.

Co-owner Peter Bradley told BloodHorse the fever came on Wednesday morning and that the colt had been fine the previous evening. “It’s a gut shot anytime this happens,” Bradley said.

No also-eligible was drawn for the Juvenile, so the field drops from eight to seven.

Gaudreau, a 2-year-old colt by Nyquist, had drawn post 2 at 8-1 with Manny Franco named to ride. He finished second in the Champagne last out and was the fifth choice on the morning line.

Brown also scratched Zulu Kingdom from Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Mile.

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile is Race 9 on Friday, Oct. 30, at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, with an approximate post time of 4:55 p.m. ET.
