Fantasy Football: 3 Tight End Streamer Options for Week 10

Tight end, as the kids say, is a wasteland.

Of all the positions in fantasy football, tight end has consistently been the most volatile. It's gotten to the point where we're lucky to have even a handful of tight ends we can rely on week to week.

This year is no different. Unless you were one of the lucky few to nab a top option at the position, you'll likely be scouring the waiver wire in search of a diamond in the rough.

However, just because you punted on the tight end position doesn't mean you've punted on your team as a whole.

Streaming tight end is a real, and effective, strategy -- you just have to know where to look.

That's where I come in, giving you three tight end streamers to target each and every week of the 2023 NFL season. All of these guys should be available in the majority of 12-team leagues and at the very least possess value for the upcoming week.

Week 10 Tight End Streamers

Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

There have only been four games this season in which a tight end has played 100% of his team's snaps.

Cade Otton owns two of them.

Otton played all 63 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offensive snaps last week -- nothing new for the second-year pro. He leads the position in total snap share (96.9%) in addition to ranking third in route participation (83.1%).

What was new for Otton this week was the fantasy production. He finished as the TE3 in half-PPR this week, totaling 20 points off 6 receptions, 70 yards, and 2 touchdowns (he lost two points via a fumble if that math looks off). Perhaps most impressively, Otton saw a greater target share (30.0%) than both Chris Godwin (20.0%) and Mike Evans (16.7%) despite running fewer routes than both receivers.

Cade Otton won't serve as Tampa Bay's No. 1 receiving option every week going forward, but his stellar utilization has me bullish about his fantasy prospects. His target share has now risen in three consecutive weeks, from 14.6% to 15.4% to, most recently, 30%.

He gets a tougher matchup in Week 10. Per FantasyPros, the Tennessee Titans have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game (6.5) to opposing tight ends. However, they've surrendered the eighth-highest catch rate (76.7%) and the seventh-highest catch rate over expectation (6.7%).

With guaranteed playing time and a growing target share, Cade Otton is a top TE steamer for Week 10.

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

Don't look now, but Hunter Henry is back on the fantasy radar.

Henry was a top streaming candidate earlier in the season, but only had one finish inside the top 20 from Weeks 3-8.

He returned with vengeance in Week 9, securing four of seven targets for 39 yards and a score this past week.

Henry tied for the team lead in target share (16.3%), but his playing time is what has me optimistic in Week 10. Henry played 87.3% of snaps in Week 9 -- the first time he'd been on the field for 75% of snaps since Week 5.

The veteran tight end looks to be a primary red zone option for the New England Patriots going forward. The Pats will continue to be without Kendrick Bourne for the rest of the year while DeVante Parker's status for Week 10 is uncertain after he missed their most recent game with a concussion.

Speaking of Week 10, the Pats take on the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany this week. Indy has been an incredibly soft matchup for tight ends this season. They've given up the fifth-most fantasy points per game (11.8) to the position, allowing the third-highest target rate (22.4%) and sixth-most yards per route run (1.50) in the process.

Tight end feels especially barren this week, but Hunter Henry's encouraging utilization and red-zone role give him streamer appeal.

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

Juwan Johnson looked good in his second game back from injury. He caught all five of his targets, racking up 29 yards and a score.

That was good enough for 11.4 half-PPR points and a TE10 finish on the week.

It was encouraging to see his utilization climb despite Taysom Hill continuing to play a predominant role. Johnson played 74.2% of snaps and ran a route on 71.4% of Derek Carr's dropbacks. On top of that, his 15.6% target share tied Alvin Kamara for second on the team.

Johnson has flashed fantasy relevance in the past, notably racking up four top-five weekly finishes in 2022.

Looking ahead, Johnson draws the Minnesota Vikings this week. The Vikings are pretty neutral against tight ends overall, but they are allowing an above-average 76.6% catch rate to the position. They haven't been a bad matchup by any means; they enter Week 9 allowing the 12th-most fantasy points per game (10.4) to the position.

They also just let Jonnu Smith (5 receptions, 100 yards, and a touchdown) and Kyle Pitts (4 receptions for 56 yards) dice them up, so it wouldn't be unprecedented for both Johnson and Taysom Hill to thrive again this week.

A popular preseason sleeper, Juwan Johnson is a strong Week 10 tight end streamer as he rounds back into form.
