Pitcher Breakdown

Grayson Rodriguez ($10,400) is in a solid spot with the slate's highest salary. Though his 3.91 expected ERA (xERA) is a bit higher than you'd hope for a top-shelf ace, G-Rod's 30.4% whiff rate shows his stuff, and the matchup and environment are solid for him. The Texas Rangers have a mediocre .692 OPS (seventh-worst in MLB) against right-handed pitching over the past 30 days.

I'd rather go to Logan Webb ($10,100) at Coors Field than stack Colorado Rockies. Colorado's 84 wRC+ and 26.0% strikeout rate against righties in the past month are tough to save just by venue alone. Webb's high rate of groundballs (57.9%) have always made him an ideal fit to visit baseball's funhouse.

Brady Singer ($9,000) is the last name I'm looking toward on a slate chock full of elite offenses -- even as we have several aces at play. Singer draws the opposite of that against the Chicago White Sox, who have an MLB-worst 74 wRC+ in the righty's split over the past 30 days. Singer's low K volume recently is a bit of a concern, but his overall whiff rate (24.7%) provides a pulse in that department.

Stacks to Target

• San Francisco Giants (5.22 implied team total)
  • The Giants let everyone down with just three markers last night, but lefties (128 wRC+ in the past month) are their better split, and Kyle Freeland (4.76 xERA) is a poor one that's run insanely hot recently to put up three earned in 13.2 innings during July.
• Kansas City Royals (4.93)
  • K.C. mopped a struggling righty last night, and they could easily do the same to Jonathan Cannon this evening. Cannon's allowed 1.24 HR/9 on the back of a 40.0% hard-hit rate allowed. The once-reliable White Sox bullpen (4.28 xFIP in last 30 days) has also cooled of late.
• Boston Red Sox (4.21)
  • Southpaws are a challenge for the Red Sox, but Justin Wrobleski's 7.37 xERA can't be ignored in one of baseball's friendliest venues for home runs. For some reason, most will stack against sinkerballer Brayan Bello with the Los Angeles Dodgers here, so I'll happily pivot.
• Chicago Cubs (4.07)
  • You could target either vulnerable pitcher at Wrigley Field when both profile to be BABIP targets, but the home Cubbies should be largely ignored in tournaments, and they've quietly come to life with a .755 team OPS against right-handers in the past month.
