Spain vs. Georgia Analysis

Spain have been one of the tourney's top teams thus far and were the only team to win all three of its group stage matches. Despite landing on the much tougher side of the Euro 2024 bracket, Spain own the second-shortest odds to win Euro 2024 (+390).

Spain totaled 5.5 expected goals (xG) in group play while giving up 2.7 xG -- including 0.2 and 0.5 xG over its final two matches. Their xG differential of +2.8 ranks fifth-best thus far.

Georgia -- competing in its first ever major tournament -- knocked off Portugal 2-0 in its final group game to advance to the Round of 16, although Portugal fielded a weakened starting lineup. Georgia's other two group-stage results were a loss to Turkey (3-1) and a draw with the Czech Republic (1-1).

Georgia has been able to create chances, amassing at least 1.1 xG in all three of its matches. They've also conceded a lot of chances, giving up a total of 6.0 xG in group play, the most of any team in the tourney.

Spain vs. Georgia Prediction

Opta's model projects Spain to win 80.4% of the time. Those are the top win odds for any Round-of-16 clash, according to Opta.

MasseyRatings also favors Spain but isn't quite as drastic, giving Spain win odds of 68%.

The Euro 2024 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook fall more in line with Opta, with Spain listed at -550 to win in regulation. That -550 moneyline implies win odds of 84.6%.
