College Football Win Totals: Can the Hurricanes Earn 10 or More Victories?
With summer officially here, college football will be heating up soon enough. However, for those gridiron fans who want to get ahead of the game, FanDuel Sportsbook has gone live with 2024 college football win totals!
The Miami (FL) Hurricanes enter the upcoming campaign in an intriguing spot.
After winning seven games in head coach Mario Cristobal's second season, Miami-Florida will feel the effects of an expanding Atlantic Coast Conference -- a group that is increasing by three institutions in football.
Notably, there is a new quarterback in Coral Gables: Washington State Cougars transfer Cameron Ward. Of course, Ward previously played at Incarnate Word (FCS) before arriving at Wazzu. Either way, he is a dual-threat athlete with a knack for making big plays.
Before getting any further, let's dive into the Canes' upcoming regular-season win total odds at FanDuel Sportsbook and take a look at both perspectives -- the over and the under.

Miami (FL) 2024 Football Schedule
Why Miami Could Win Over 9.5 Games (+138)
The Hurricanes are brewing success in Coach Cristobal's third year. Of course, Cristobal is a South Florida native and Miami alum. While playing for the U, he was a member of two different national champion teams (1989, 1991).
Miami is looking to improve on last season's scoring clip of 31.5 PPG. As mentioned, quarterback Cam Ward is slated to start for the Canes (QB Tyler Van Horn left UM to join the Wisconsin Badgers). For Ward's final season at Wazzu, he earned a 65.1 QBR. From there, he rushed in eight touchdowns.
In need of a more dynamic ground attack, Ward should open up Miami's playbook. No player reached 650 rushing yards for the Hurricanes in 2023. Still, I'd imagine that big tailback Mark Fletcher Jr. is able to accomplish the feat in the current offense.
According to ESPN's post-spring SP+ rankings, UM (14.4) is ranked as the 19th-best program in Division I with the 18th-best offense. Still, that positioning lands Miami third -- behind the Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers -- in the ACC. However, the Canes are not scheduled to play Clemson in the coming season.
Transparently, winning 10 games in a Power 4 conference is never a small task. With that, FanDuel Sportsbook lists over 9.5 wins for Miami at +138 odds (carrying a 42% implied probability).
Why Miami Could Win Under 9.5 Games (-170)
While it is certainly plausible for the U to earn 10 victories throughout the 2024 regular season, that affords room for only two losses. In other terms, 9.5 games is tied for the ACC's largest win total on FanDuel. Is Miami built like that?
In addition to the bar being set quite high this year, the Canes are facing a travel plan not yet endured at the FBS level. In particular, Miami has a tough turnaround in early October that features back-to-back road games against the California Golden Bears and Louisville Cardinals. Simply, a loss in either bid will make it difficult for the Hurricanes to reach double-digit victories.
Miami will commence 2024 with an intrastate affair versus the Florida Gators.
For that bid in Gainesville, the Canes are labeled as a 2.5-point road favorite. Similarly to above, a loss here for UM will immediately put their backs against the wall in this market. To give over bettors to have supreme confidence here, the Hurricanes will need to approach the October 26th romp versus the Florida State Seminoles with no more than one loss.
Coach Cristobal knows exactly what it takes when it pertains to legitimately contending in this game. As a player, the Hurricanes teams he was on won at least 10 games in every campaign. Be that as it may, he will not be on the field to set the tone from his old offensive tackle spot.
