College Football National Championship Odds for the 2024-25 Season

After Monday's college football national championship, the Michigan Wolverines and head coach Jim Harbaugh are on top of the sporting world.

The Maize and Blue earned their first natty of the current millennium by routing the Washington Huskies, 34-13. However, the sports betting industry is one that never sleeps -- FanDuel Sportsbook has already gone live with odds for the 2024-25 CFP National Championship.

Before letting the college-football ship sail away for the offseason, let's have a glance at some of the lookahead lines for next year's title winner. Keep in mind -- the CFP field will expand from four to 12 teams in 2024-25.

College Football 2024-25 National Championship Odds

Georgia Bulldogs

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +350

Controversially, the Georgia Bulldogs were passed over by the College Football Playoff committee this past season, which prevented UGA from fulfilling the game's first national three-peat since the Great Depression. Despite losing just one game last year, Georgia dropped out of the top-four teams and was left to handle an undermanned Florida State Seminoles team. In that bid, the Dawgs made a statement by winning 63-3.

I'd imagine head coach Kirby Smart and the entire UGA football community feel pretty disrespected after not being given a shot to defend back-to-back titles. Still, those things can happen when a Power 5 school fails to win its conference, and that's exactly what transpired when Georgia lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC title bout last month.

The Bulldogs will have the benefit of returning signal-caller Carson Beck in 2024. This past season, Beck did well to produce a top-five QBR (86.0). In an era where quality quarterbacks will always have other viable options in the transfer portal or NFL Draft, having an established "dude" taking the snaps is paramount.

Alabama Crimson Tide

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +550

Three entire seasons have gone by since 'Bama and head coach Nick Saban have been crowned kings of the college football world, which I'm sure feels like an eternity for the lofty standards of Tuscaloosa.

This past campaign reminded us (once again) of Coach Saban's greatness; after losing at home to the Texas Longhorns in Week 2, the Tide rallied for an 11-game winning streak. Over that span, Alabama managed to defeat Georgia in the SEC title game for the second time in three years. Of course, the Crimson Tide made it as far as the Rose Bowl before falling short versus the eventual-champion Wolverines.

In true 'Bama fashion, the Tide will return a stout defense along with a talented quarterback next year. Over the past two months, dual-threat signal-caller Jalen Milroe established himself as one of the top offensive players in the SEC, ultimately earning Second-Team All-Conference honors.

Simply, with Milroe and Saban in the fold, Alabama's immediate future is bright.

Ohio State Buckeyes

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +800

As college football's most disgruntled program at the moment, the Ohio State Buckeyes are desperately looking to subvert the status quo. Genuinely, Ohio State could go 12-1 every season, but if that one loss was courtesy of "the school up north," the football year is considered a failure.

It really does not feel like too long ago that OSU was riding an eight-game winning streak in The Game over archrival Michigan. Since then, the Wolverines have won the past three head-to-head clashes with the Buckeyes, which had not occurred since the mid-1990s.

With urgency now at an all-time high in Columbus, the program seems content with head coach Ryan Day (56-8 lifetime record at Ohio State) going forward. However, a win over Michigan next year would do a lot to help cool Day's seat.

Thanks to the transfer portal, last year's quarterback, Kyle McCord, has departed (to the Syracuse Orange) while former Kansas State Wildcats signal-caller Will Howard arrives to take his place for the Buckeyes. With that, OSU holds eight-to-one odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to win their first natty in a decade.

Texas Longhorns

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +850

In 2023, "Texas is back" proved to be mostly a true statement. For the first time in school history, the Longhorns qualified for the College Football Playoff in the four-team layout. Of course, UT will enter a new era of football next season, leaving the Big 12 for the SEC.

Moving into FBS' fiercest circuit, head coach Steve Sarkisian will have his work cut out for him. Since Sark took over the football program three years ago, the 'Horns have gone 1-2 versus SEC teams. As alluded to, that one victory came in Tuscaloosa last September, one that set the tone for Texas' 2023.

Despite the overzealousness of the media, it is not Arch Manning time in Austin just yet. UT still retains the talents of quarterback Quinn Ewers, who boasted a 22-to-6 TD-to-INT ratio in 2023. A team stout in the trenches, Ewers and the Longhorns appear to be Texas' best football team since Mack Brown's group in 2008.

Michigan Wolverines

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +1000

Make no mistake, U-M will be basking in the glory of Monday night's CFP National Championship win for quite awhile. Still, when the dust settles, there eventually will come a time to get back to work in Ann Arbor. Obviously, today is not that day, but everyone wants to know -- what is to become of head coach and alum Jim Harbaugh?

Now that he has earned college football's ultimate prize, some expect Harbaugh to head back to the NFL. Nothing official has come to the surface yet, but Harbaugh does have prior professional ties to the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders.

Should Harbaugh depart his beloved Michigan, it would make the Wolverines' head-coaching job the most desirable vacant position in college football. From there, it is also anticipated that quarterback J.J. McCarthy will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. Still, as it is now, the entire sporting community awaits further word. For the moment, FanDuel Sportsbook has Michigan's upcoming national title odds at 10-to-1.
