College Basketball Betting: Arizona Is Running Away With the Pac-12

Soon enough, college basketball betting will be all the rage again.

Still, with the Super Bowl to be played this Sunday in "Fabulous" Las Vegas, college hoops is still taking a back seat to gridiron action -- but not for long!

Out west, the Pac-12 is approaching the close of its final regular season in the current iteration. Transparently, Arizona has surprised no one by being the top team out west.

Soon enough, the conference tournaments will be here, and after, the illustrious March Madness. However, prior to any of that, we still have to crown regular-season winners.

At FanDuel Sportsbook, the college basketball conference betting odds are quickly narrowing. Here is how the odds look for the Pac-12 conference regular-season winner.

Arizona Wildcats (-750)

The Arizona Wildcats are surging toward their second regular-season men's basketball title over the past three years. With head coach Tommy Lloyd in his third campaign at U of A, the 'Cats seemed poised to return for the crown.

In 2022-23, the UCLA Bruins cashed the Pac-12 regular-season winner market. Still, Arizona rallied to win the most recent conference tournament at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Fast-forward to the current year, and the Wildcats possess the conference's best overall record at 18-5. In Pac-12 play, they are 9-3, which is one game ahead of both the Washington State Cougars and Oregon Ducks.

As of Friday, the 'Cats have just eight contests remaining until postseason play begins. On Thursday, they did well to top the Utah Utes on the road in triple overtime. In that bid, Arizona guard Pelle Larsson went off for 27 points on precise 66.7% shooting.

At numberFire, the Wildcats (19.32 nERD) are viewed as the third-best team in men's college basketball. They certainly score the rock at a prolific rate. Through 23 contests this season, 'Zona has produced 89.7 points per game (PPG), which is the second-highest clip in Division I.

Simply, the Pac-12 runs through U of A one final time.

Colorado Buffaloes (+1300)

After a down year in 2022-23, head coach Tad Boyle and the Colorado Buffaloes are back on the right track in 2024. But their current record of 16-7 (7-5 in Pac-12 games) has them sitting in fourth place in the conference.

The Buffs did well to get back into the win column last Thursday. Prior to defeating the Arizona State Sun Devils at home, CU dropped back-to-back road contests versus Wazzu and Utah.

This Super Bowl weekend, the Buffaloes will have a difficult game as Arizona comes to town -- FanDuel Sportsbook has CU as 1.5-point favorites on their own floor in that bid.

Naturally, a win in Boulder this Saturday against the Wildcats would do wonders for Colorado's conference standings as well as their collective confidence for the upcoming conference tournament.

Junior guard K.J. Simpson has been the most prominent player for CU in 2023-24. In 23 appearances, Simpson is averaging 19.4 PPG along with 4.4 assists per game (APG) -- both team-high marks for the Buffs. Between him and German-born Tristan Da Silva (15.3 PPG), Colorado is a formidable offensive side.

Oregon Ducks (+1600)

As the Pac-12's current third-place team, Oregon has authentic expectations in 2024. However, UO's play over the last month has been mediocre.

Since January 18th, the Fighting Ducks have managed a 3-4 record. That stretch includes losses to Colorado, Utah and UCLA -- all programs surrounding Oregon in the standings. On Saturday, the Ducks will have a pivotal meeting when they travel to Pullman for a game with Washington State.

UO is in their 14th season under head coach Dana Altman. In that epoch, Oregon has won the Pac-12 regular-season title on four separate occasions. Additionally, the Ducks have thrice won the conference tournament under Altman's tutelage -- this program in Eugene understands what it takes to ascend the mountain.

In the current campaign, Oregon has been powered by the senior tandem of Jermaine Couisnard and seven-footer N'Faly Dante. The pick-and-roll duo has averaged a combined 34.2 PPG. If the Ducks are to make a late run for the Pac-12 regular-season title, Couisnard and Dante will need to set the tone.
