Arsenal vs. Bayern Munich Prediction, Projected Lineups and Betting Picks

Bayern vs Arsenal Picks in Summary

  • Harry Kane to Record a Goal or Assist (-140)
  • Arsenal or Draw (-140)

Two of Europe's biggest clubs will square off today as Bayern Munich host Arsenal in a marquee Champions League league-phase matchup at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal have started their European campaign with two wins and two clean sheets while Bayern have four points through two matches following a 5-0 win over Bodo/Glimt and a wild 3-3 draw with Viking FK. Bayern will also be without two important attackers, with Michael Olise suspended and Jamal Musiala sidelined by a thigh injury.

Let's break down two Bayern Munich-Arsenal best bets before looking at the projected starting lineups.

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich Picks, Prediction

Double Chance: Arsenal and Draw (-140)

It's never easy going into the Allianz Arena and getting a result, but Arsenal have more than enough going for them to justify backing the double chance.

The Gunners have opened Champions League play with consecutive victories and haven't conceded a goal in the competition. Arsenal's defense was also sharp over the weekend, earning a 1-0 Premier League victory at Nottingham Forest.

Bayern are certainly capable of overwhelming anyone at home, especially after putting six past RB Leipzig over the weekend, but they'll enter this matchup short-handed in attack. Michael Olise is suspended after being sent off against Viking while Jamal Musiala remains out. Those are significant absences against an Arsenal side that is particularly difficult to break down.

There's also some uncertainty elsewhere in Bayern's lineup. Manuel Neuer has been dealing with a foot issue, although he returned to partial training Tuesday, while Joshua Kimmich missed the final session for personal reasons.

Arsenal defeated Bayern 3-1 in London when these teams met in last season's league phase, and I'm more comfortable taking the draw onto our side rather than asking the Gunners to win outright in Munich.

Harry Kane to Record a Goal or Assist (-140)

Even against an excellent Arsenal defense, Harry Kane's involvement in Bayern's attack makes this an appealing way to get exposure to the hosts.

Kane has produced nine goals and six assists through 10 appearances this season, including three goals and one assist through Bayern's first two Champions League matches. That means he has directly contributed to four of Bayern's eight European goals thus far.

The matchup also carries plenty of history for the former Tottenham striker. Kane has accumulated 15 goals in 22 career appearances against Arsenal, so facing the Gunners certainly hasn't been an issue for him over the years, although Arsenal are much better now than they were for most of Kane’s Tottenham tenure.

Olise and Musiala being unavailable should only make Kane's role more important. Luis Diaz is coming off a hat trick against Leipzig, but Bayern's attack still revolves around Kane — who is on penalties — as both a scorer and creator. Taking a goal or assist gives us two avenues to cash rather than needing him to beat an Arsenal defense that has yet to concede in this Champions League campaign.

Bayern Munich Projected Lineup

Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, Alphonso Davies; Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic; Lennart Karl, Ismael Saibari, Luis Diaz; Harry Kane

Neuer is trending toward returning from his foot injury, while Karl is the likely choice to replace the suspended Olise on the right. Kimmich's status is worth monitoring after he missed Tuesday's training session for personal reasons.

Arsenal Projected Lineup

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): David Raya; Jurrien Timber, Ezri Konsa, Gabriel Magalhaes, Myles Lewis-Skelly; Declan Rice, Bruno Guimaraes; Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke; Viktor Gyokeres

Madueke is pushing to return to the starting XI after scoring the winner against Nottingham Forest while Gyokeres could get another Champions League start up top. William Saliba, Piero Hincapie, and Christos Tzolis remain unavailable.

Soccer Betting FAQ

What is a moneyline bet in soccer?

A moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win the match. Because soccer matches can end in a draw, most moneyline markets include three options: the home team, the away team, or a draw.

What does “draw no bet” mean?

Draw no bet removes the draw as a losing outcome. If the match ends tied, your wager is refunded. If your team wins, the bet wins.

What is a soccer total?

A total is a bet on how many combined goals will be scored in a match. For example, an Over 2.5 Goals bet wins if at least three goals are scored.

What does “both teams to score” mean?

Both Teams to Score, often abbreviated BTTS, is a wager on whether each team will score at least one goal during the match.
