Arsenal vs. Aston Villa Prediction, Picks and Projected Lineups

Arsenal vs Aston Villa Picks in Summary

Arsenal and Aston Villa meet Monday in an early-season Premier League matchup with the Gunners looking to build on a strong opening performance. With Arsenal favored to take all three points, there are several ways to approach the betting market, but one angle stands out as the best bet for the match.

When looking at the soccer odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, what makes the most sense for today’s clash?

Arsenal vs Aston Villa Picks, Prediction

Arsenal Over 1.5 Goals (-182)

Arsenal two score multiple goals is my favorite bet for Monday's matchup with Aston Villa.

The defending Premier League champions opened their season with an impressive 3-0 victory over Coventry City, continuing the strong form they showed in beating Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, were crushed 4-0 by Brighton in their opener after an offseason in which they lost several major pieces, including Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa, Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne, Ollie Watkins, and Emiliano Martinez. Villa could hand debuts to Nicolas Jackson and Leon Goretzka, but that's a lot of turnover for Unai Emery to overcome against the strongest side in the league.

The matchup also looks particularly dangerous for a Villa defense that was repeatedly exposed in transition against Brighton. Arsenal have plenty of pace through Bukayo Saka and Christos Tzolis, the latter of whom produced four shots and created three chances in his Premier League debut. I like the Gunners’ attack to find the back of the net at least twice against an in-transition Villa unit.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa Projected Lineups

Arsenal Possible Starting XI: Raya, White, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly, Rice, Saka, Odegaard, Tzolis, Havertz.

Aston Villa Possible Starting XI: Suzuki, Cash, Lindelof, Torres, Ruggeri, Bogarde, Kamara, Buendia, Barkley, McGinn, Jackson.

Soccer Betting FAQ

What is a moneyline bet in soccer?

A moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win the match. Because soccer matches can end in a draw, most moneyline markets include three options: the home team, the away team, or a draw.

What does “draw no bet” mean?

Draw no bet removes the draw as a losing outcome. If the match ends tied, your wager is refunded. If your team wins, the bet wins.

What is a soccer total?

A total is a bet on how many combined goals will be scored in a match. For example, an Over 2.5 Goals bet wins if at least three goals are scored.

What does “both teams to score” mean?

Both Teams to Score, often abbreviated BTTS, is a wager on whether each team will score at least one goal during the match.
