5 Games to Watch This Weekend: Creighton Visits Marquette

Who’s ready for a great weekend?

Check below for our list of five games to watch this weekend in college basketball.

In no particular order:

San Diego State at Gonzaga (Friday)

Neither of these two West Coast powers currently have a Quad 1 win, but that will change after Friday night's showdown in Spokane. The Bulldogs don't have what they've had during the past few seasons with Drew Timme, but they still have enough to be among the nation's elite. Keep an eye on San Diego State's Jaedon LeDee (21.6 points, 9.4 rebounds), who's currently having an All-American caliber season.

Washington at Colorado (Friday)

Are the Buffaloes a bonafide contender for the Pac-12 regular season title? I'm starting to think so. This game will present a quality test. Keep an eye on Colorado's KJ Simpson (19.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists), who's starting to separate himself as the best guard in the Pac-12.

Creighton at Marquette (Saturday)

This is only December, but the loser of this game will be below .500 in Big East play. The Jays are coming off a home loss against Villanova while the Golden Eagles are 1-1 in conference games after last Friday's rout of Georgetown. Marquette's Tyler Kolek -- the reigning Big East Player of the Year -- has 25 assists in his last three games.

Pitt at Syracuse (Saturday)

If the Panthers are going to be viewed as a candidate to play in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season, this is the type of game that they have to win. It will not be easy. Pitt is 2-3 this season against power conference opponents while Syracuse is 4-2. The Orange are getting All-ACC first-team type mileage out of sophomore guard Judah Mintz (19.8 points, 3.7 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 steals).

Arizona at Stanford (Sunday)

Stop me if you've heard this before: Stanford's talent is better than its record. Yep, I thought it sounded familiar. The Cardinal are hovering around .500 in a season that's critical for Jerod Haase's future in Palo Alto. There's no better way to make a statement than by getting a victory against the Wildcats, who possess one of the sport's most complete starting fives.
