Who’s ready for Feast Week?
Check below for our list of five games to watch this weekend in college basketball.
In no particular order:
Memphis/Michigan (Battle 4 Atlantis)
Are the Wolverines the team that scored 89 points and beat St. John's by 16 at MSG last week or the team that let up 94 points and lost to Long Beach State? We'll find out later today in the Bahamas. The Tigers are one of the more fascinating teams in the sport and have an average age of 23 years old in their starting five.
Marquette/Purdue (Maui Invitational)
The winner of this game will likely be the No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 on Monday. It's a fascinating contrast of styles. The Golden Eagles' relentless pressure defense will firmly test the Boilers' perimeter. There's also a terrific matchup in the middle between Purdue's Zach Edey and Marquette's Oso Ighodaro. This is a Final Four-caliber game.
Gonzaga/UCLA (Maui Invitational)
Another meeting between these two blue blood programs? Sound delicious. This is the fourth straight year that Gonzaga and UCLA have met. The Bruins will have a hard time trading wits with Ryan Nembhard (11 points, 5.8 assists) --- a transfer from Creighton --- who has been a steadying influence for the Bulldogs at point guard.
Arizona/Michigan State (Palm Springs)
A heavyweight matchup with all the trimmings -- literally! The Wildcats have been one of the most impressive teams in college basketball, especially after their win at Duke on Nov. 10th. The Spartans, meanwhile, are seeking their first quality victory of the season. Keep an eye on the pace of this game as Arizona averages a whopping 99.6 points while Michigan State only averages 74.0 points.
Arizona State/BYU (Las Vegas)
This game might seem a bit off the radar, but the true college basketball junkies are fascinated by BYU. The Cougars have already beaten San Diego State this season in what will be their first year in the Big 12. BYU also has great balance as seven different players are averaging between 9.0 points and 15.3 points. Arizona State is 2-1 and coming off a two-point over UMass Lowell.
