5 College Basketball Games to Watch This Weekend
Who’s ready for a great weekend?
Check below for our list of five games to watch this weekend in college basketball.
In no particular order:
Maryland at Villanova (Friday)
Finneran Pavilion should be on fire on Friday night for this regional matchup. The Terps enter this game on the heels of back-to-back losses while the Wildcats are fresh off a loss against Penn at The Palestra.
Keep an eye on the point guard matchup between Villanova's Justin Moore (18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds) and Maryland's Jahmir Young (14.7 points, 5.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds).
Saint Mary's vs. San Diego State (Friday)
It feels like these two proud programs meet every season. This year, it's in the first round of the Continental Tire Main Event in Las Vegas. Both squads are coming off disappointing losses last weekend as the Gaels were shocked at home by Weber State while the Aztecs lost at BYU.
This event could serve as the national breakout party for San Diego State's Jaedon LeDee, who's averaging 25 points and 9.3 rebounds.
Washington vs. Xavier (Friday)
Keion Brooks (24 points, 8.3 rebounds) is playing like an All-American out of the gate for the Huskies. Desmond Claude (17.3 points) isn't far behind for the Musketeers. This is a massive "swing game" for both teams, with each side coming off a loss.
It will be interesting to see how Xavier -- who battled Purdue before coming up short on Monday night at Mackey Arena -- handles Washington's experience and seasoning. Claude is the only active member of the Musketeers' rotation who was a part of last season's run to the Sweet 16.
Boise State at Clemson (Sunday)
A win on the road would go a long way for the Broncos in terms of their potential at-large resume for the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Broncos have played in each of the past two NCAA Tournaments under Leon Rice.
This is the start of a key five-game road stretch for Boise State, who will stay on the East Coast to play three games in the ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando during Thanksgiving Weekend before a neutral site clash with Saint Mary's on Dec. 1st.
Indiana/UConn (Sunday)
These two blue blood programs will square off at Madison Square Garden in the first round of the Empire Classic. It will be the first time this season that both of these teams have faced a power conference opponent.
The Huskies are hoping to get freshman Stephon Castle (14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists) back from a knee injury after he missed Tuesday's game against Mississippi Valley State.
