4 FanDuel Stacks to Target in Week 7

Stacking in daily fantasy football on FanDuel is a key strategy and a way to shoot for upside. There are a few different ways to correlate lineups that can help us maximize our ceiling.

The classic stack is a quarterback with one of his pass-catchers. Sometimes, it makes sense to use two pass catchers with their signal-caller, especially when the target share is concentrated around two players.

In other situations, we can pair a running back and a defense on the same team. This makes sense when a team is a huge favorite and expected to dominate, which can lead to carries for the back and chances for sacks and turnovers for the D/ST. We also can look to deploy a game stack -- rostering a QB, one of his pass-catchers, and a pass-catcher from the other team. Game stacks can work best in matchups that have high totals and close spreads.

Our Brandon Gdula did a study on stacking that is worth checking out before you make your lineups.

Here are four of the best stacks to zero in on in NFL DFS for this week's main slate.

Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith ($7,000), D.K. Metcalf ($7,700), and Tyler Lockett ($6,800)

The Seattle Seahawks check a few boxes that we look for when trying to double stack a passing game.

The two receivers in this stack are getting a high percentage of the valuable targets. D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have combined for 72% of the air yards and 85% of the end zone targets (per PFF). That's one box checked.

They'll get to face a weak Arizona Cardinals' pass defense. The Cards are 30th in adjusted fantasy points allowed per drop back. They are also 30th in numberFire's schedule-adjusted pass defense metrics. Check that box off as well.

The last box is total salary. It could be argued that this isn't as important because if your stack hits hard enough, it's easier to have a high score no matter who you roster in the other spot. However, the wiggle room we have with this stack will give us a decent chunk of salary to use in other roster spots.

The total stack with Geno Smith, Metcalf and Lockett uses $21,500 in salary, and you'll have $6,417 left per player. With a defense and perhaps a value tight end, that's plenty of room to work.

Seattle also has the second-highest implied team total (26.0 points) on the main slate this week. This is clearly one of the best stacks on the board for tournaments.

Kansas City Chiefs/ Los Angeles Chargers

Patrick Mahomes ($9,200), Travis Kelce ($8,500), and Keenan Allen ($9,200)

This stack is much more prohibitive than the Seattle stack. The advantage to this one is that it gives us access to the main slate's highest total.

Many people have been wondering what's going on with the Kansas City Chiefs' offense after a lackluster performance against the Denver Broncos last Thursday night. Their passing offense is still a respectable ninth in numberFire's metrics, though.

Patrick Mahomes is still the QB5 in points per game, so it's not like he's completely fallen off of a cliff. He really got Travis Kelce involved last week for his first big game of the season. Kelce caught 9 balls for 124 yards, showing why he's still fantasy football's number one tight end.

Kelce has seen 26% of the targets in games that he's been active for this season, and is still undoubtedly the number one option for Mahomes. 40.0% of the Chiefs end zone targets have also gone Kelce's way when he's been on the field.

We'd want this game to really shootout if we want a ceiling outcome from Kelce and Mahomes. If that's the case, Keenan Allen is likely to be the one contributing for the Los Angeles Chargers. Only Tyreek Hill is averaging more half-PPR points than Allen at the wide receiver position this season.

Allen had a 32% target share in Week 6, and we've seen it get as high as 42% in a Week 3 shootout against the Minnesota Vikings.

This stack is difficult to fit into lineups, but some value plays do make it possible.

Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen ($9,000) and Stefon Diggs ($9,000)

This stack may go a bit overlooked when this game has a total of just 40.5 points.

The Buffalo Bills can hold up their end of that total with their implied team total sitting at 24.5 points. Things were ugly for them on Sunday Night Football this past week. They eventually broke through, scoring two touchdowns and getting the win.

We hope it's more smooth sailing for them this week. It feels like it's happened somewhat quietly, but Josh Allen is the fantasy QB1 on the season. The Bills are eighth in pass rate over expectation. That should allow Allen to keep cooking for most of this game.

Allen's favorite target is certainly Stefon Diggs once again. Diggs has a 33% target share and a 43% air yards share. He's turned this elite usage into the fourth-most half-PPR points per game among wide receivers.

Buffalo will face the New England Patriots this week. The Patriots are 20th in numberFire's pass defense metric. They lost Christian Gonzalez for the season after Week 4 -- a big loss since the rookie cornerback looked like he was going to be a good one.

That 24.5-point team total is the third-highest on the main slate. Allen and Diggs are the two players capable of having tournament-winning performances on the Bills, and they're who you want this week if targeting Buffalo.

Washington Commanders

Brian Robinson ($7,500) and Washington D/ST ($4,600)

It's been a strange season for the Washington Commanders. They are 3-3 with games including a crazy comeback against the Broncos and a blowout loss at home against the Chicago Bears.

It makes it difficult to trust them. The good news is that we don't have to bet on them; we can just roster some of their assets in DFS.

Brian Robinson is one of those assets. Sure, he's not the most exciting running back in the league, but he does get enough work to make him fantasy relevant. He's seen at least 14 adjusted opportunities (carries plus double targets) in four of six games this season.

Robinson is the Commanders' guy when they're trying to punch the ball into the endzone. He has 86% of the team's inside-the-five rushing attempts. They might have the ball down near the goal line at least a few times this week.

Washington will take on the New York Giants on the road. The Giants' offensive line is a mess and ranks dead last, per PFF. The Commanders are seventh in sacks in the league, and should be able to get home this week.

If the Commanders defense can create turnovers, it should set up Robinson with good field position and the chance to punch home at least one touchdown.
