Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins To Score a Goal (+260)

With new life, the Edmonton Oilers have their offense moving in the right direction.

A 3.65 implied goal total for the Oilers against the Seattle Kraken is a good starting point to find some goal props. Speaking of goal props, tonight's slate is a tough one. There are some players in great matchups but they have bad odds. There are players who are underperforming their Expected Goals Scored, but are essentially pure dart throws, for lack of a better term.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is a player with a strong combination of good underlying metrics, a good matchup, and good odds.

RNH has just three goals through 14 games this season, but his Expected Goals Scored is at 3.8. He's coming off a season with 37 goals, showing he's fully capable of much more.

Nugent-Hopkins is underperforming, but the same can be said about the entire Oilers' offense. Edmonton is only scoring 2.07 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations this season, which is 27th in the league. However, their Expected Goals Scored (xGF) in the same situation is up at 3.22, which leads the league.

Tonight, they take on the Seattle Kraken, who are allowing 2.56 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is 16th in the league. Over the last two weeks, the Kraken have allowed 2.84 Goals in the same situations.

The Oilers offense should be trending upward, while the Kraken are on a bit of a slide. RNH has shown plenty of goal-scoring ability in his career and just needs some puck luck to find the back of the net.

Quinn Hughes To Record 4+ Shots on Goal (+185)

The Vancouver Canucks have a 3.58 implied goal total tonight as they take on the New York Islanders in a home matchup with plenty of offensive potential.

With 66 goals through 15 games -- 4.4 goals per game -- the Canucks are the highest-scoring team in the NHL. They are flying all over the ice, putting up goals in the blink of an eye.

To be specific, they are scoring 3.35 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-best in the league. Their offense likes to play fast and move the puck, something they should be able to put on display tonight.

The Islanders come into this game with a 68.39 Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fourth-worst in the league. The Islanders are allowing teams to fire the puck freely, making this a mouth-watering matchup for the Canucks.

Quinn Hughes is the top defender for the Canucks, skating on their top pairing and top power-play unit. He comes in averaging 3.1 shots on goal per game, even with him recording just two shots on goal total in their last three games.

He's had a few down games, but this is a clear bounce-back spot for Hughes, who has recorded 4+ shots on goal in seven of his 15 games or 46%. If we convert the +185 odds to implied probability, that would be 35.1%.

I like the differential in the rate at which he hits this prop and the implied probability.

Jaccob Slavin Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+120)

With a 3.90 implied goal total, the Carolina Hurricanes are a clear team to target tonight.

As we've seen over the past few seasons, the Canes sit atop the league with a 73.21 Corsi For (Total Shot Attempts Created) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. Essentially, the Canes keep the gas pedal down 100% of the time when it comes to offensive pressure.

They are firing the puck from all over the place and Jaccob Slavin leads the team with 43 shots on goal through 15 games. That's an average of 2.8 shots on goal per game, a high level of consistency for the Canes' top defender.

Slavin has been over this 2.5 mark in 60% of his games this season and should look to continue that versus a middle-of-the-road defense in the Philadelphia Flyers.
