3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Wednesday 1/10/24
Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.
Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Cole Caufield
To Score a Goal (+180)
A favorable matchup versus the Philadelphia Flyers puts Cole Caufield in a great spot to score.
Over the last three weeks, the Flyers' defense has started to hit a rough patch and is now allowing 2.87 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 13th worst in the league. They've allowed at least three goals in five of these nine games, making this a matchup we love to attack.
For the entire season, the Flyers have taken the fifth-most (457) penalty minutes, which is always good to see for someone like Caufield, who is on the first power-play unit for the Montreal Canadiens.
Caufield started the season a bit slow and has 11 total goals this season, but 4 of them have come in his last 10 games. He has a total of 28 shots on goal in that time, while also skating on the team's first forward line.
He leads the team in shots by nearly 40 to the next player and is their primary shooter on offense, who is starting to heat up with scoring. All of this should put Caufield in a spot to find the back of the net.
Cale Makar
Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+126)
With a 6.5 over/under, there should be plenty of offense between the Colorado Avalanche and the Vegas Golden Knights.
The defending Stanley Cup Champion Golden Knights got off to a super hot start this season but a number of injuries have slowed them down in recent games.
Over the last two weeks, the Golden Knights are allowing 66.67 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-worst in the league. Considering the Avalanche are generating 62.58 Total Shot Attempts in the same situations this season, it's looking like a great matchup to pile up the shots.
We'll turn to Cale Makar, who is averaging 3.0 shots on goal per game this season, but is starting to reach for a new level. Over his last 10 games, he is averaging 3.9 shots on goal, and has hit five shots on goal four times.
It's a straightforward spot for one of the best offensive defensemen in the NHL to do his thing and rack up the shots on goal.
Travis Konecny
Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-108)
While the Flyers are struggling on defense, so are the Canadiens.
Whether we look at the last two weeks or the entire season, the Canadiens are in the bottom five of the league for Total Shot Attempts Allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
It's an ideal matchup for an opposing offense and that leads me to Travis Konecny tonight, who is peaking at the right time.
An average of 3.4 shots on goal per game this season is great, but he is taking that to a new level. Over his last 10 games, he is averaging 4.0 shots on goal, and over his last five games, he's averaging 5.2 shots on goal.
Of course, these are smaller sample sizes, but the upside is there for Konecny, who has an elite matchup to continue this trend for at least one more game.
