3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 2/15/24

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Sam Reinhart To Score a Goal (+125)

The Florida Panthers have a solid 3.50 implied goal total against the Buffalo Sabres, in what should be an offensive-minded game.

When it comes to goal-scoring, Sam Reinhart is among the best in the league this season with 39 goals in 53 games. That's good for the second-most in the NHL and I'm going with him hitting his 40th goal of the season tonight, which happens to be against his former team.

The Sabres' defense is looking decent right now, but they are due for some negative regression, while the Panthers' offense is due for an offensive explosion.

Over the last three weeks, the Sabres have allowed 1.54 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the ninth-best in the league. If we look at their Expected Goals Allowed (xGA), that's up at 2.57, meaning they are overperforming by a full goal allowed.

For the Panthers' offense, they are only scoring 1.64 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, putting them as the sixth-lowest team in the league, but their Expected Goals Scored (xGF) is up at a whopping 3.03, which would be the third-best in the league.

Two teams that should be converging on offense and defense, with Reinhart right in the middle of it. His role on the first forward line and the first power-play unit is as secure as you can imagine, and he should look to find the back of the net tonight.

Filip Forsberg Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-138)

Nashville is known as a party city and Filip Forsberg takes that to heart by piling up a ton of shots.

Shots on goal that is and Forsberg comes in with 213 on the season, which is good for just over 4.0 per game. Over his last 10 games, he has pushed that to 4.7 per game, having posted at least five shots on goal in half of these games.

This is no surprise as the Nashville Predators are generating 64.95 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-best in the league over the last three weeks,

That should be on display tonight against the Dallas Stars, who are allowing the 11th most (61.19) Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last three weeks.

Forsberg has a shoot-first mentality, and it has led to him being one of the most consistent options when it comes to NHL player props.

Nazem Kadri Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-104)

If the San Jose Sharks are on the slate, we look to the opposing team, it's as simple as that.

The Sharks are borderline historically bad this season and offer a wealth of value on a nightly basis. Tonight, they are up against the Calgary Flames, which leads me to Nazem Kadri for a shot prop.

Over the last three weeks, the Sharks' defense has allowed 76.35 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the league. For the entire season, the Sharks are at 69.28 Total Shot Attempts Allowed, which is also the worst in the league.

We keep things simple with Kadri, who not only leads the team with 171 shots on goal for the entire season but also leads them in the last 10 games with 35 shots on goal.

Seeing ice time on the second forward line and the first power-play unit put him in a spot to continue that shot volume against a horrible defense.
