Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.
Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Jack Eichel To Score a Goal (+130)
With a top role and a great matchup, Jack Eichel is primed to find the back of the net tonight.
Eichel is the center on the top forward line and the top power-play for the Vegas Golden Knights, who come in with a 3.41 implied goal total against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Eichel has three goals in seven games to start the season, but more importantly, he's shooting the puck at a very high rate. He has 36 shots in those seven games, which is good for the second-most in the NHL.
As for the Blackhawks' defense, they are allowing 2.88 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the ninth-worst in the league. Eichel has back-to-back games with four shots on goal, yet no goals.
Given his role and this matchup, Eichel should have plenty of chances to bury a goal.
Seth Jarvis To Score a Goal (+200)
Seth Jarvis is another player shooting the puck at a high rate but simply not scoring.
The Carolina Hurricanes are rocking a slate-high 4.19 implied goal total against a San Jose Sharks team that is simply a mess this year. The Sharks sit in the bottom four of the league in both Goals Allowed (3.27) and Corsi Against (68.94) (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
They might be a historically bad team this year.
As usual, the Canes have a great offense and are scoring 2.84 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the eighth-best in the league.
Jarvis is on the top forward line and the top power-play unit, propelling him to lead the team in shots on goal (25) up to this point in the season. Yet, despite that role and the shot volume, Jarvis is without a goal in his last three games.
The Sharks are on the second night of a back-to-back with travel, which hopefully allows the Canes' offense to get a jump on them early.
Mats Zuccarello To Record 3+ Shots on Goal (+100)
The Minnesota Wild are visiting the Washington Capitals in what could be a sloppy game.
To start the season, both teams are looking pretty lackluster and have nothing to write home about. Both teams sit in the bottom 11 of the league in Corsi Against, which means we could be in for some scoring chances.
Allowing a ton of shot attempts is a bad thing and both of these teams are doing just that.
Mats Zuccarello is on the top forward line and the top power-play unit for a Wild team that comes into tonight with a 3.13 implied goal total. Zuccarello has four shots on goal or more in three of his last five games and should be able to continue that tonight with a favorable matchup.
