3 NFL Player Prop Bets for Week 8

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy football on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NFL player props bets that look appealing.

Calvin Ridley Any Time Touchdown (+185)

Week 8 brings us a loaded Sunday slate, so let's dive into some player props!

There are no teams with bye weeks this Sunday, giving us a ton of options to sift through. A ton of players are in great spots but their odds for a touchdown sit around +100 or +110, which I don't have a ton of interest in. Touchdowns are rather variable, so let's aim for a bit more plus money with Calvin Ridley at +185.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a 21.50 implied team total on the road to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite being known for their defense, the Steelers are struggling this year and present a good matchup for Ridley.

The Steelers have allowed the seventh-most (1,238) receiving yards and tied for the third-most (7) touchdowns allowed to opposing wide receivers. This is good news for Ridley, who's due for a bit of a bounceback performance after two slow games.

On the season, Ridley comes in with a 20.3% target share, 13.3 average depth of target (aDOT), 38.3% air yards share, playing on 81.7% of the snaps, and running a route on 89.1% of dropbacks. The latter four are all the highest on the Jaguars this season.

For his red zone usage, Ridley has a 31.6% red zone target share, which is the highest on the team among their healthy players.

This is truly a strong spot for Ridley to find his way back into the endzone for the first time in four games.

Breece Hall Over 69.5 Rushing Yards (-114)

The New York Jets are on the "road" to take on the New York Giants, which presents a strong matchup for Breece Hall.

Hall and the Jets are coming off a bye week fully rested and ready to take on their in-stadium rivals. Hall has shown tremendous upside on the ground, pushing us to over 69.5 rushing yards this week.

The Giants' defense is horrible against the run this season, having allowed the second-most (857) rushing yards to opposing running backs. We are routinely seeing opposing backs go for big yardage against the Giants, putting Hall in an elite spot.

Hall comes in controlling 56% of the Jets' rushing attempts this season, which should only increase as the season goes on. There's speculation around Dalvin Cook being traded, which would only further cement Hall as the Jets' top option.

If we dig a bit deeper, we'll see that Hall has the sixth-most (180) rushing yards after contact this season, showing that there are not many defenses that can slow him down -- let alone, one of the worst rush defenses in the league.

C.J. Stroud Over 242.5 Passing Yards (-114)

C.J. Stroud has looked great as a rookie and over 242.5 passing yards is the spot to go this week.

In a matchup of the two top picks from this year's NFL draft, we are siding with Stroud, who is showing a high level of consistency this season.

In his six games, Stroud has thrown for 242 yards or more five times, which has him in the top 10 of the league for passing yards. That is rather impressive work from the Houston Texans' rookie quarterback, who is throwing the ball at a solid rate so far.

Overall on the season, the Texans have a 57.61% pass play percentage, which is 18th in the league. That rate jumps to 61.29% -- the 11th highest -- when the Texans have been on the road this season, which is where we see them this week at the Carolina Panthers.

Stroud has been ballin' this season and he should come out firing against the team that passed on him with the first overall pick.
