3 NFL Player Prop Bets for Monday Night Football: Week 8, Raiders at Lions

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy football on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NFL player props bets that look appealing.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Davante Adams Any Time Touchdown (+150)

The Las Vegas Raiders are on the road to take on the Detroit Lions to close out Week 8.

The home Lions are 7.0-point favorites in a game that features a solid 46.5 over/under, giving us a good indication we should see some scoring tonight.

When it comes to touchdown props tonight, Davante Adams clearly stands out at +150. Adams is among the elite receivers in the league and these odds are a bit higher than we've traditionally seen in recent years.

Adams comes in with a team-high 39.0% red zone target share this season and yet, hasn't scored since Week 3. That red zone target share has dropped a touch to 30.0% in the past three weeks, but he still leads the team.

Over that span, Adams has commanded a 20.0% target share and 22.5% air yards share, playing 87.3% of snaps and running a route on 86.7% of dropbacks in the process.

The Raiders are 7.0-point underdogs in this game, which should put them into a passing game script and benefit Adams. The Lions have also allowed seven touchdowns in seven games to opposing wide receivers, putting Adams in a spot to cash in on his touchdown prop.

Jahmyr Gibbs Over 99.5 Rushing+Receiving Yards (-114)

With David Montgomery out for the second straight week, Jahmyr Gibbs is in for a big game.

Last week against the Baltimore Ravens, Gibbs saw 20 total touches, a very encouraging sign considering that was his first game in nearly a month. Craig Reynolds was the only other Lions' running back to see the field last week and he ended with just four total touches.

That's a very clear sign they want to get the ball into Gibbs' hands early and often.

That level of involvement in the offense should be beneficial for Gibbs since the Raiders have allowed the eighth-most (737) rushing yards to running backs this season. On top of that, they've given up 202 receiving yards to running backs, which is 19th in the league.

Gibbs is the go-to option for the Lions and a soft matchup puts him in a place to rack up a ton of yards tonight.

Michael Mayer Over 21.5 Receiving Yards (-128)

Rookie tight end, Michael Mayer has seen his offensive usage increase in recent weeks, making him a great option tonight.

The early portion of the season was very slow for Mayer, but as a rookie pass-catcher, that's not too much of a surprise. This has led to a 6.4% target share on the entire season, but things have changed recently.

Over the last three weeks, his target share is up to 12.4%, which is noticeably higher. This has led to Mayer racking up 13 targets, 9 receptions, and 127 yards in the last three games. It appears the Raiders are making it a point to get him more involved in the offense as the season has gone on.

Tonight, that trend has a good chance to continue as the Lions have allowed the eighth-most (439) receiving yards to opposing tight ends this season.

numberFire's projections have Mayer going for 30.55 receiving yards, putting him over this prop tonight.
