Finding low-salary production is one way to get a leg up on the competition in MLB DFS.
Here are some value plays to target on FanDuel for today's main slate.

DJ Stewart, OF, New York Mets ($2,600)
It's a night lacking in value pitchers, so we'll look at three hitters who can help us save salary to use at pitcher.
D.J. Stewart hasn't played too much this season for the New York Mets, but he has been effective when in the lineup. He's sporting a .402 wOBA and a .357 ISO. Against righties, he's been mashing to the tune of a .413 wOBA and .373 ISO.
He'll face a righty tonight and not a particularly difficult one to hit. Joan Adon has a 4.94 expected FIP (xFIP) and allows fly balls at a 44.8% clip. In Adon's short MLB career, lefties have a .380 wOBA against him.
These numbers are over small sample sizes, but Stewart is low enough in salary to take a chance on in lineups tonight. He's the best value hitter on the slate by numberFire's model.
Mike Moustakas, 1B/3B , Los Angeles Angels ($2,500)
It's been quite the downfall for the Los Angeles Angels after they decided to try to compete for a wild card spot instead of selling pieces at the trade deadline.
One of the players who they brought in was Mike Moustakas. Moustakas is no longer one of the better power hitters in baseball but is still useful -- especially with the platoon advantage, where Moustakas has a .185 ISO and .328 wOBA.
He'll face Kyle Gibson of the Baltimore Orioles tonight. Gibson has been roughed up by lefties this season, allowing a .362 wOBA against them.
Moustakas should bat cleanup for the Angels and has a decent chance of going deep in this matchup. He's a quality value option.
MJ Melendez, C/OF, Kansas City Royals ($2,800)
While the Kansas City Royals are not typically a team we like to use hitters from outside of Bobby Witt Jr., MJ Melendez is someone we can roster tonight.
Melendez's numbers aren't the best, but he's been making better contact than his numbers suggest. He has a 11.9% barrel rate and is hitting the ball hard 50.5% of the time. He's underperforming his slugging (.403) and wOBA (.309), as his expected slugging (xSLG) is .432 and expected wOBA (xwOBA) is .321.
He's also carrying a .328 wOBA and .188 ISO against righties this season, and he's facing a shaky one in Touki Toussaint, who has a 5.34 SIERA and a 16.9% walk rate in 2023.
Kansas City has a solid implied team total of 4.84 runs tonight. If Melendez is batting fourth, he's a solid piece of a stack but can also be used as a one-off play.
