3 MLB FanDuel Value Plays for Wednesday 8/30/23
Finding low-salary production is one way to get a leg up on the competition in MLB DFS.
Here are some value plays to target on FanDuel for today's main slate.

Connor Joe, 1B/OF, Pittsburgh Pirates ($2,400)
With the way this slate is shaking out, there aren't any pitchers with a lower salary we'll feel good about rostering. So we'll need some value hitters like Connor Joe to put in our lineups and play the high-salaried arms.
Joe is not the best hitter anyone's ever seen, but he has a few things working for him. He has a solid .340 wOBA with a respectable .181 ISO. He'll face a lefty tonight, and when in this split, his numbers improve to a .360 wOBA and .188 ISO
Angel Zerpa will be on the mound for the Kansas City Royals tonight. Zerpa has been mostly a minor-leaguer for the past three seasons. When he has gotten called up, righties have roughed him up to the tune of a .344 wOBA in 25.1 innings.
Joe will probably get a good lineup spot for the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight and is a nice value for close to the minimum salary.
Anthony Volpe, SS, New York Yankees ($2,600)
Anthony Volpe has been a lone bright spot for a New York Yankees team that is having their worst season in a long time.
Volpe has 19 homers and 20 stolen bases this season, so he can provide a good amount of upside through that. He'll also get the platoon advantage tonight, and against lefties, he has a .341 wOBA and .240 ISO.
He'll face off against Joey Wentz for the Detroit Tigers. Wentz has a 5.55 expected ERA (xERA) this season and has gotten knocked around by righties this season. He's allowed a whopping .378 wOBA and .239 ISO. when facing opposite-handed hitters.
Volpe has been batting fifth a lot lately, and to get a player in the heart of the lineup with this platoon advantage for just $2,600 is an extreme bargain.
David Peralta, OF , Los Angeles Dodgers ($2,500)
The Los Angeles Dodgers have a lot of players that can be considered stars. David Peralta isn't one of them, but he can get the job done for us in DFS.
Peralta has essentially made his career as an outfielder that can hit right-handed pitching. He has a career .351 wOBA against righties. That keeps him in the lineup when a righty is on the mound -- and even gets him a good lineup spot on most nights.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will send Brandon Pfaadt to the hill tonight. Pfaadt has allowed opposing hitters to barrel the ball 11.2% of the time and has a hard-hit rate allowed of 45.1%. Lefties have slapped him around to the tune of a .372 wOBA this season.
Peralta is a great value addition to a Dodgers' lineup that has some players with high salaries, so he makes sense as an addition to an L.A. stack.
