3 MLB FanDuel Value Plays for Tuesday 8/22/23
Finding low-salary production is one way to get a leg up on the competition in MLB DFS.
Here are some value plays to target on FanDuel for today's main slate.

Bryan Woo, P, Seattle Mariners ($7,900)
Bryan Woo has pitched just 55 innings in the MLB, but he's had some success so far. Tonight, he comes in a nice salary to target for lineups.
Woo has adjusted to big league hitters pretty well with a nice 25.9% strikeout rate this season. He's gotten a solid 12.4% swinging-strike rate, too. Woo has also gotten fairly unlucky, as his expected ERA (xERA) of 3.37 is much lower than his actual ERA of 4.75.
The Seattle Mariners will face the Chicago White Sox tonight. Chicago is one of the worst teams against right-handed pitching this season, with just a .304 wOBA and a 92 wRC+. They also strike out 22.2% of the time against righties.
Woo is coming off a small injury scare, but the Mariners felt comfortable sending out him out after he threw a bullpen session a few days ago. So, there is a chance he might be a bit limited tonight. If he's able to keep the pitch count down early in the game, though, he should be able to pay off this salary.
Yainer Diaz, C, Houston Astros ($2,700)
Yainer Diaz has been a revelation for the Houston Astros this season. He's given them another bat to add to their dangerous lineup and continues to impress in his rookie season.
Diaz has displayed a lot of power this season with a .263 ISO. Against righties, that number goes up to .310. He's barrelling the ball 13.3% of the time and hitting fly balls at a 38.5% rate.
The Astros are at home against the Boston Red Sox, who will have Tanner Houck on the mound tonight. Houck has been competent this season, but he's not really anything that should scare us off rostering any Astros bats tonight.
Houston has an implied team total of 4.52 runs, and you can get Diaz, who is likely to hit fifth, for just $2,700.
Jordan Luplow, OF, Minnesota Twins ($2,200)
If you're really in a bind and need to save salary, Jordan Luplow is the way to go.
No one would confuse Luplow for a Hall of Famer, but he checks a few boxes tonight. He's likely to hit leadoff for the Minnesota Twins tonight. He has the platoon advantage as a righty facing a lefty. Against left-handed pitching in his career, he has a .354 wOBA and .273 ISO.
He's not facing a particularly tough lefty tonight, as he'll take on Wade Miley. Miley's 3.05 ERA looks good, but his xERA is all the way up to 4.57, and his expected FIP (xFIP) is 4.85. He's also allowing a career-high fly-ball rate (38.3%) and a career-high barrel percentage (7.9%).
Minnesota is a slight favorite in this game, and being able to roster their leadoff hitter for the minimum salary is a nice way to fill out lineups on this slate.
