3 Final Four Bets to Consider as We Enter March

Subscribe to our newsletter

The NCAA Tournament is on the horizon, giving teams little time to improve their seeding or earn a spot in the big dance. In the final weeks of the regular season, FanDuel Sportsbook is offering a few different college basketball odds markets that tie into the NCAA Tournament.

Among the markets available, FanDuel Sportsbook has Final Four odds. The Connecticut Huskies (+120), Houston Cougars (+160), and Purdue Boilermakers (+170) are all favorites to advance to the Final Four in the upcoming tournament.

While it's easy to make the case for those teams to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, let's take a look at a few other teams who have a legitimate chance to be one of the final four teams remaining.

Purdue+170
Arizona+280
Tennessee+280
Auburn+430
Marquette+430

Tennessee (+280)

The Tennessee Volunteers are currently on a five-game winning streak after defeating the Auburn Tigers, 92-84, in their most recent game, inching them closer to a conference title. With the Alabama Crimson Tide, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Kentucky Wildcats remaining for their final three contests, Tennessee has the shortest odds to win the SEC (-125).

Guard Dalton Knecht -- who is averaging a team-high 20.8 PPG -- is going to be pivotal in Tennessee's hopeful March tourney run. The Volunteers are recording the 36th-most points per game (80.7) and the 14th-best assist-to-turnover ratio (1.63) in all of college basketball.

Given the team's recent success, Tennessee has risen to No. 4 in the AP Top 25 poll and No. 5 in KenPom's ratings. Entering the NCAA Tournament, the Volunteers are going to be battle-tested after having to face a few talented SEC squads down the stretch.

Of the teams that aren't named Connecticut, Houston, or Purdue, Tennessee is my best bet to be a team who makes a push to the Final Four.

Marquette (+430)

Not many teams are hotter than the Marquette Golden Eagles, who have won 11 of their last 12 games. The lone defeat in that span came by way of a an elite Connecticut squad, although it was an 81-53 blowout loss on the road.

Head coach Shaka Smart has the Golden Eagles playing inspired basketball, and the team has the makeup of being a tough out when the tourney tips off. Marquette has four players averaging 10-plus points per game, and guard Tyler Kolek leads the entire nation in assists per night (7.6).

Experienced guard play is valuable in the tournament, and the Golden Eagles have both Kolek and Kameron Jones manning the backcourt. Marquette is also an efficient team -- 20th-best effective field-goal percentage (55.8%) -- and one that forces opponents to make plenty of mistakes as they record the 14th-most turnovers forced per game (15.61).

The Golden Eagles are No. 5 in the AP Top 25 and No. 11 in KenPom's ratings before finishing the regular season against the Creighton Bluejays, Connecticut, and the Xavier Musketeers. With Marquette having the second-shortest odds to win the Big East tournament (+320), this could be the second time Smart leads a team to a Final Four in his coaching career.

North Carolina (+430)

It was extremely fun to watch guard RJ Davis light up the Miami Hurricanes for 42 points while making seven three-pointers in the most recent game -- and win -- for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Davis leads the Tar Heels in scoring, and his 21.7 points per game is tied for the sixth-most in the country.

Aside from Davis, UNC has three other players producing 10-plus points per game, including Armando Bacot, who is averaging a double-double (14.1 PPG, 10.5 RPG). The duo of Davis and Bacot has helped the Tar Heels tally the 26th-most points per game (81.5) and the ninth-most defensive rebounds per game (28.89).

In the midst of sitting at No. 9 in both the AP Top 25 and KenPom ratings, North Carolina is tied for the sixth-shortest college basketball national championship odds at +2000. Getting to the line is also a strength of the Tar Heels as they are logging the 19th-most free throw attempts per game (23.6) and the 14th-most free throws made per game (17.7).

Following home matchups against the North Carolina State Wolfpack and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, North Carolina will finish the regular season with a road meeting versus the Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
