College Basketball Prop Bets

Michigan at No. 2 Purdue

Lance Jones Over 12.5 Points (-120)

The second-ranked Purdue Boilermakers have the highest implied total (85.5) of the night, so it's natural we target some of their players' point props.

That leads me to guard Lance Jones -- an 11.9 point-per-game scorer whose over/under is set at 12.5 points.

Jones has cleared this mark in four of his last five games as he's really turned on the scoring in conference play. Against Big Ten opponents, the grad transfer has averaged 14.1 points and 11.4 shot attempts per game. A lot of his scoring in conference play has come from beyond the beyond the arc, averaging 2.6 made threes on 35% shooting.

He's been better at home, too. In nine games at Mackey Arena, Jones has averaged 13.0 points per game, attempting 8.9 field goals per night. He's shooting a blistering 41% from three at home and figures to see plenty of open looks tonight.

That's because the Boilers' opponent, Michigan, has struggled mightily on defense this season. They're down at No. 139 in KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency and rank 165th in effective field goal percentage allowed.

I'm expecting Lance Jones to extend his recent hot streak and cruise past this 12.5-point mark in a home rout.

No. 4 Houston at No. 21 BYU

Dallin Hall Over 4.5 Assists (-105)

It's not every day you want to target offensive props for a team facing the Houston Cougars, but BYU guard Dallin Hall's assist prop is set at just 4.5 -- a number I'm all over tonight.

Hall averages 4.6 assists per game in total, but that number's been steadily climbing throughout the year. Over his last eight games, he's averaged 5.5 assists per game, and he's racked up 20 dimes in the last three games alone.

That's helped him average 5.4 assists per game in Big 12 play, and he's averaged 5.1 in 11 true home games.

Tonight's opponent is tough, as Houston leads the country in adjusted defensive efficiency and points per game allowed (51.0).

However, the Cougars' stifling defense forces teams to move the ball, and they've allowed an assist on 65.4% of baskets -- the highest mark in the country.

That's led to some hefty assist totals, especially from Big 12 opponents. In Houston's last four conference games, the opposing point guard racked up four, six, five, and three assists.

Hall should continue that trend, and I'm expecting him to find the open man for at least five assists tonight.

No. 6 Kentucky at South Carolina

Meechie Johnson To Make 3+ Threes (+140)

We'll close things out with some plus-odds, as I'm anticipating another big night from South Carolina's leading scorer, Meechie Johnson.

Johnson averages 16.7 points and 2.2 threes per game on the season, but he's been even better at home. In nine games at Colonial Life Arena, the junior has averaged 18.9 points and 2.4 threes per game, shooting 39% from deep.

While this line is slightly above his season average, he's notably hit at least three threes in all three home games against Power Conference opponents.

Tonight's opponent, Kentucky, is an ideal candidate for him to continue that streak. The Wildcats rank fourth in adjusted offensive efficiency and 10th in pace, but they struggle on defense. They're just 75th in adjusted defensive efficiency and give up 77.2 points per game.

Opposing teams love to let it rip from beyond the arc versus UK, as the Wildcats allow 27.4 three-point attempts per game (17th-most among 362 Division I teams). That's likely thanks to the Wildcats' blistering offense, as Kentucky often builds big leads. The Gamecocks are 5.5-point home underdogs, so South Carolina should continue to feed their leading scorer if they're chasing a lead.

That's an ideal game script for Johnson to let it rain from deep.

It doesn't hurt that he torched John Calipari's Wildcats last season, scoring 26 points and draining six threes in an upset victory. Given UK's defensive woes this season, I won't be surprised to see another big game from Johnson.

Because of his success at home, we can also look at Meechie Johnson Over 17.5 points (+100). This game's 154.5-point over/under is the third highest on the night, so there should be plenty of points to go around in Columbia.
