2024 NBA Draft Betting: Which Team Will Select Bronny James?

Largely, the NBA landscape seems to be at a changing of the guard.

With international-icon LeBron James laboring through Year 21 in the league, many are beginning to speculate: will "The Chosen One" bring his career arc full-circle by eventually playing with his oldest child, Bronny James?

Naturally, Bronny is in his freshman year at the University of Southern California, playing his home games just a few miles from where his father does. The younger James and USC still have nine regular season games left in 2023-24, but NBA franchises are already considering what drafting the Sierra Canyon HS graduate would mean for its overall brand.

Should James decide to go one and done at Southern Cal, it will be one of the most prevalent storylines of the upcoming draft. Fortunately for basketball fans and bettors alike, FanDuel Sportsbook is already offering Bronny James NBA Draft odds.

With the annual selection event still a few months out, let's have a look at the aforementioned betting market.

2024 NBA Draft Betting: Which Team Selects Bronny James?

Los Angeles Lakers (+750)

The basketball universe seems set on having Bronny James play with his father, as LeBron Sr. is still dominating the NBA. Of course, the older James plays for the Los Angeles Lakers; if Bronny dawned the Purple and Gold, many would see that as a Hollywood-scripted story worthy of a feature-length film.

At FanDuel Sportsbook, the Lakers are viewed as the favorite to draft Bronny James this summer. Currently, LAL is yielding +750 odds in this market. Considering LeBron's relationship with Los Angeles brass Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka, it makes sense to see Bronny with steam for the Lakers.

Many experts have Bronny projected as a first-round talent for the 2024 NBA Draft. For Los Angeles, there is a small issue with that: the New Orleans Pelicans have rights to the upcoming Lakers' first-round selection (which can be exercised by New Orleans in 2024 or 2025).

The Lake Show currently show an overall record of 26-25, which has them as the Western Conference's ninth seed. Seemingly, there is a chance LAL misses the playoffs this year, which would incidentally enter them into the draft lottery.

Miami Heat (+950)

Another franchise that Bronny's pops shined for, the Miami Heat are thought to be interested in the USC freshman. As an improved shooter, James Jr. would certainly be a valuable player in head coach Erik Spoelstra's system. From there, I'm sure team president Pat Riley would revel at the idea of having LeBron's son in South Beach.

Like LAL this year, the Heat are hovering around .500 as we approach All-Star Weekend (side note: who will win Stephen vs. Sabrina three-point shootout?). In the Eastern Conference, that leaves Miami as the eight seed. Should "El Heat" miss the postseason, their chances of selecting Bronny would drastically improve.

FanDuel Sportsbook currently has Miami labeled with +950 odds to draft James in 2024. His family obviously has a preexisting relationship with the team, and South Florida has always been a popular environment for professional athletes. Still, will the planets align as such to make this scenario a reality?

New York Knicks (+950)

I think we can all admit that Bronny in the "Big Apple" has tremendous potential. If James falls in the 2024 NBA Draft for one reason or another, the New York Knicks could be a favorable landing spot.

In the current campaign, the Knicks have shown a spirited effort -- especially since trading for two-way star OG Anunoby. Right now, New York is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, but there is still ample time for them to slide up or down. However, the Knickerbockers will almost certainly be picking in the later half of the round.

With New York's core of players, James' skills and size (6-foot-4) will have him fit cohesively alongside Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle and Anunoby. Given that the family has presence both in Los Angeles and the Midwest, moving into NYC would present more opportunities for James than just basketball.

Cleveland Cavaliers (+1100)

Could it really be so simple? Could Bronny's ensuing NBA career take us back to where it all started for him and his father? If you think the Cleveland Cavaliers are not doing their due diligence here, think again.

Like LeBron, Bronny was born in nearby Akron. For the James family, it all began in Northeastern Ohio, where the older James was raised and starred athletically for St. Vincent-St. Mary HS. Of course, LeBron spent the first seven seasons of his NBA career shining for the Cavs. He also earned the franchise's first championship ever. What if Bronny eventually brought another title back to "The Land"?

Similar to New York, the Cavaliers success in 2023-24 may keep them from being in position to select James Jr. Of all teams featured in this article, Cleveland currently (entering Feb. 5) has the best record at 31-16: good enough for the third-best record in the East.

Considering the Cavs might not be drafting until the end of the first round, there's a noticeable chance that Bronny will not be available when Cleveland is on the clock. Still, it presents an interesting "full-circle" scenario. Either way, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Cavs at 11-to-1 odds to draft Bronny in 2024.
