Odds as of Tuesday, June 18th.

Nikola Jokic (+380)

After locking up his third MVP award this past season, Nikola Jokic is tied for the shortest odds to win MVP in 2024-25.

Jokic was awarded his third MVP after averaging 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game -- all top-10 marks league-wide.

He led the league in several advanced ratings, including PER, Wins Shared, Box Plus/Minus, and VORP.

Team success certainly played a role in his third MVP, too. The Joker's Denver Nuggets finished as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference thanks to the third-best record in the NBA (57-25).

Looking ahead, Jokic should be among the top contenders for the award yet again in 2024-25. At 29 years old, he is in the prime of his career and has made All-NBA First or Second Team each of the past six seasons.

Perhaps Jokic's biggest barrier to winning another MVP would be voter fatigue. He is currently one of just nine players to win three MVP awards, and only five players ever have won four.

Luka Doncic (+380)

Fresh off a run to the NBA Finals, Luka Doncic is tied with Jokic for the shortest odds to win the 2024-25 NBA MVP.

Luka has yet to win an MVP, but he's certainly put together a stellar resume. The 25-year-old already has five First Team All-NBA honors under his belt, the most recent of which came after he led the league with 33.9 points per game.

He's averaged at least 27.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game each of the last five seasons, so there's no questioning his statistical profile.

Still, despite five straight top-10 MVP finishes, 2024 was the first time Doncic finished in the top three for MVP voting. That aligned with the Dallas Mavericks winning 50 games for just the second time in Luka's career.

Doncic has long been touted as a future MVP. If the Mavs can build off their Finals run and improve on last year's win total, he'd have as good of a case as anyone to win the 2024-25 MVP.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+550)

After finishing fifth in MVP voting in the 2022-23 season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took another step forward this past season. SGA averaged 30.1 points per game on 53.5% shooting en route to a second-place finish for MVP.

SGA enters the offseason tied for the third-shortest odds to win the 2024-25 MVP at +550.

He's coming off a 2023-24 season that saw him finish second in win shares and third in PER -- both advanced statistics that typically slant toward bigs. SGA was awarded First Team All-NBA for the second straight year, though his most compelling MVP case came via team success.

The Oklahoma City Thunder finished with the second-best record in the league last season, going 57-25 while earning the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

Despite a Conference Semifinals exit, SGA proved more than capable of balling on the biggest stage. Across 10 playoff games, the 25-year-old averaged 30.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game.

A guard hasn't won MVP since the 2017-18 season, so SGA faces an uphill battle to take home the honor in 2024-25. But, if the young Thunder take another step forward, don't be surprised if he does just that.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (+550)

Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is tied with SGA for the third-shortest odds to win the 2024-25 MVP at +550.

Giannis has finished inside the top five of MVP voting each of the past six seasons, so it's not surprising to see him near the top of the odds leaderboard.

He finished fourth last season, averaging 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and a career-high 6.5 assists per game.

The Greek Freak was near the top of the league in several advanced metrics, too. He finished third in VORP, Box Plus/Minus and Win Shares while placing second in PER.

With the Milwaukee Bucks in win-now mode, Giannis has everything you'd want from an MVP candidate. A bounce-back year from Milwaukee could propel Antetokounmpo to the top of the MVP ladder -- even among stiff competition.

Joel Embiid (+550)

The winner of the 2022-23 award, Joel Embiid looked well on his way to back-to-back MVPs before an injury derailed his season. Embiid played just 39 games in 2023-24, his fewest since the 2016-17 season.

But, when he was out there, he looked the part. Embiid averaged 34.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and a career-high 5.6 assists per game in limited action. He lapped the field in PER and somehow finished 30th in win shares -- higher than Paul George and Stephen Curry, both of whom played 70-plus games.

A healthy season from Embiid would put him firmly in the mix for MVP, especially if the Philadelphia 76ers have a bounce back year. Last year's 47-35 record was their worst finish in four years, although they did go 31-8 with Embiid active.

Assuming Embiid enters the 2024-25 season healthy, he has as good of a chance as anyone to win MVP. Health remains a question mark, but there's no doubting his contributions when available.
