Top Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for This Week
Germie Bernard, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Moneyline
Spread
Total Points
Germie Bernard has gone from an intriguing rookie to a player who should be rostered just about everywhere. He erupted for 11 catches on 12 targets for 87 yards and a touchdown in Week 6, giving him 21 targets over the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ last two games.
With Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson on injured reserve, Bernard has a clear path to significant volume, and it’s not crazy to say he’s Pittburgh’s WR1 right now. Even when Pittsburgh's receiving corps gets healthier, Bernard is making a compelling case to maintain a sizable role.
Omar Cooper Jr., WR, New York Jets
Moneyline
Spread
Total Points
Few players improved their fantasy stock more in Week 6 than Omar Cooper did. Returning from an ankle injury, the first-round rookie caught 6 of 7 targets for 103 yards and a touchdown while leading the New York Jets in targets.
Cooper also ran a route on 85% of New York's dropbacks, so this wasn't simply a big game on limited usage.
The combination of playing time, draft capital, and production makes Cooper one of the week's highest-upside waiver adds.
C.J. Stroud, QB, Houston Texans
C.J. Stroud probably shouldn't be available in many leagues at this point, but he's still sitting on the wire in enough formats to warrant checking.
Stroud threw for 312 yards and 3 touchdowns in Week 6 and has averaged 306.7 passing yards and 2 touchdowns per game over his last three outings.
He's scored at least 20 fantasy points in three straight games, and Houston hosts the C.J. Stroud in Week 7. Stroud is more than a one-week streamer if he's still available as he’s proven to be a solid QB1 as long as Nico Collins is healthy.
Kyler Murray, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Moneyline
Spread
Total Points
Coming out of the Minnesota Vikings‘ Week 6 bye, Kyler Murray is another quarterback worth checking for on the waiver wire.
Before the bye, Murray completed 24 of 30 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown while adding 51 rushing yards on 10 carries against the New Orleans Saints.
The rushing workload is especially encouraging because it raises Murray's weekly fantasy floor as well as his ceiling. Minnesota hosts the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7 before games against the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills, giving Murray an appealing upcoming schedule for managers who need quarterback help.
Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans Saints
Running back is fairly thin on this week's waiver wire, which makes Kendre Miller‘s workload difficult to ignore.
Miller handled 20 carries for 70 yards and added 2 receptions in Week 6, finishing with a team-high 22 touches.
Alvin Kamara remains involved, so Miller isn't suddenly a workhorse. Still, a running back seeing 20-plus touches has clear fantasy value during the heart of bye-week season.
Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, New York Giants
The Giants' backfield became much more difficult to predict in Week 6, and that opens the door for a speculative addition of Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Tracy turned 6 carries into 18 yards and a touchdown while catching 2 passes for 27 yards and another score.
Most importantly, Cam Skattebo didn't record a touch, while Tracy played 26 snaps. Tracy's two-touchdown game isn't sustainable on eight touches, but the possibility of a larger role makes him worth rostering while we see how New York sorts out its backfield.
Keenan Allen, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Keenan Allen‘s age shouldn't scare fantasy managers away from what remains a valuable target profile.
Allen caught 8 passes for 82 yards on 11 targets in Week 6, and he's now seen at least 9 targets in three consecutive games.
Over that three-game span, Allen has averaged 6.3 receptions and 63.3 receiving yards. Volume like that makes him especially useful in PPR formats, and Indianapolis could continue leaning on him if its other pass catchers remain banged up.
DeMario Douglas, WR, New England Patriots
Moneyline
Spread
Total Points
Demario Douglas has forced his way back onto the fantasy radar.
Douglas hauled in 7 of 8 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown against the Jets, giving him at least 65 receiving yards and a score in consecutive games.
He's now scored three touchdowns over the past two weeks. That touchdown pace will be difficult to maintain, but eight targets and seven receptions are much more encouraging indicators of sustainable fantasy usefulness. Although A.J. Brown is back, Romeo Doubs exited early on Sunday, so Douglas should continue to play an important role for the New England Patriots‘ offense.
Ja'Kobi Lane, WR, Baltimore Ravens
Moneyline
Spread
Total Points
Ja'Kobi Lane didn't produce an eye-catching box score in his return from injured reserve, but his usage was encouraging. He caught 4 passes for 40 yards and was second on the Baltimore Ravens in target rate in Week 6.
Lane had already flashed earlier in the season before a wrist injury interrupted his rookie campaign. He's more of a stash than an immediate starter, but his role could become considerably more valuable once Baltimore's quarterback situation stabilizes. Also, Rashod Bateman left injured in Week 6, which could open the door for Lane to see consistent snaps.
New York Jets D/ST
Gang Green stands out as a top streaming option for Week 7 as the Jets host the Dolphins.
Through five games, Malik Willis has five fumbles and four interceptions while taking 14 sacks. Yes, please.
The Jets’ defense has been pretty darn good this year, giving up the sixth-fewest yards per play (4.8), and a home matchup with Miami makes the Jets’ D/ST a viable Week 7 play.
Fantasy Football Waivers FAQ
What is the waiver wire in fantasy football?
The waiver wire is where fantasy managers can add players who are not currently on a roster in their league. It is one of the best ways to improve your team during the season, especially when injuries, role changes, and breakout performances create new opportunities.
When should I make waiver wire claims?
Most leagues process waivers once or twice per week, so it is important to check your league's settings. Tuesday night and Wednesday morning are common waiver periods, but managers should also monitor news throughout the week for late-breaking opportunities.
Which positions should I prioritize on the waiver wire?
Running backs and wide receivers with expanding roles are usually the most valuable waiver targets. Quarterbacks — especially in two-QB formats — tight ends, and defenses can also be strong additions when they have favorable upcoming matchups.
How much FAAB should I spend on a waiver wire player?
FAAB spending should depend on a player's projected role, upside, your FAAB budget and how badly your roster needs help. It is usually worth being more aggressive for a player who could become a weekly starter than for a short-term streaming option.
