NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Wednesday 10/25/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.
Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

The New Jersey Devils are an elite team and the Washington Capitals are the opposite of that.
A 6.5 total with juice on the over is a good indication we are going to see offense tonight, which should be coming mostly from the Devils. This shouldn't be a surprise since the Devils are among the Stanley Cup favorites and have an offense waiting to break out.
Through five games, the Devils have 20 total goals, which seems good, but we need to dive deeper. Currently, they are only scoring 1.33 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is actually the third-lowest in the league.
That is rather surprising since they come in with a big 69.92 Corsi For (Total Shot Attempts Created) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-best in the league. They are firing the puck all over the ice, but scoring at a very low rate. That is bound to change and if we look at their Expected Goals Scored (xGF), they are up at 3.05, which leads the league.
What does this all mean? The Devils are generating a TON of shot attempts, but very few of them are going in. They are currently underproducing goals based on their volume of shot attempts, which points to positive regression in the near future.
That could start tonight since the Capitals are in the bottom 11 of the league in both Corsi Against (61.56) (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) and Goals allowed (2.83), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
Jack Hughes leads the charge for the Devils and with him skating on the top forward line and the top power-play unit, he will continue to produce every single night. That is why he has already racked up 14 NHL points and 24 shots on goal through just five games.
He only had two shots on goal last night, so I fully expect a bounceback game from him tonight with this soft matchup. I'll also add a sprinkle on Hughes To Record 6+ Shots on Goal (+240), something he has done in three of his five games this season.
