Red Sox send Enmanuel Valdez to Triple-A

The Red Sox needed to free up a roster spot after they acquired infielder Zach Short from the New York Mets on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations. Short will start on second base and bat ninth in Thursday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Kyle Harrison and the San Francisco Giants.
