MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Wednesday 5/22/24

San Francisco Giants at Pittsburgh Pirates

Blake Snell Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-128)
Jared Jones to Record 6+ Strikeouts (-295)
Alternate Total Runs: Under 8.5 (-162)

Combined Odds: +221

Blake Snell is set to make his return for the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday following a stint on the injured list. The experienced southpaw had a rough start to his tenure with the Giants, allowing three-plus earned runs and striking out five or fewer batters in each of his first three starts.

It was a positive sign to see Snell excel in his two rehab starts ahead of Wednesday's matchup versus the Pittsburgh Pirates by striking out 10 in his last rehab outing while giving up a combined zero earned runs in both appearances. After recording the eighth-highest strikeout rate (24.1%) against left-handed pitching in 2023, the Pirates are currently posting the sixth-highest strikeout rate (24.6%) when facing left-handed pitching in 2024.

Jared Jones is among the young pitchers on the Pirates who is flashing plenty of potential this year. Jones is in the 97th percentile in chase rate (36.5%), 95th percentile in whiff rate (35.3%), and 88th percentile in strikeout rate (30.6%) in his first nine starts.

While the Giants own the 13th-lowest strikeout rate (21.4%) against right-handed pitchers, they do have the 13th-highest CSW rate (27.6%). Given the matchup, we'll take Jones -- who has seven-plus strikeouts in seven of his nine outings -- to register six-plus Ks versus San Francisco.

By backing Snell and Jones, we'll also take the alternate under of 8.5 total runs scored in this showdown. This is a perfect bounce-back spot for Snell while Jones should continue mowing down batters at a decent clip at home.

Texas Rangers at Philadelphia Phillies

Corey Seager to Record 2+ Total Bases (-130)
Bryce Harper to Record 2+ Total Bases (-105)

Combined Odds: +268

In our SGP for the impending clash between the Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies, we'll be fading both Taijuan Walker and Dane Dunning by placing confidence in hot hitters from both teams. Following a slow start to the season, Corey Seager is seemingly turning a corner at the plate in recent games.

Seager is amid a six-game hit streak with two-plus bases in four of those six contests -- including back-to-back games with a home run. The matchup is an extremely favorable one for Seager with Walker mightily struggling with hard contact.

Besides being in the 13th percentile in average exit velocity (90.7 MPH), Walker is in the 19th percentile in hard-hit rate (44.1%) and first percentile in barrel rate (17.6%) through his first four starts this season. On top of that, Walker is permitting a .410 wOBA, .545 SLG, and a 1.75 WHIP versus left-handed batters.

For the Phillies, we'll take Bryce Harper to have success at the plate versus Dunning and the bullpen of the Rangers. Harper has tallied at least one hit in eight of his last 10 games with four multi-hit performances, four doubles, and two home runs in that span.

Dunning is allowing a .338 wOBA, .474 SLG, and 2.81 HR/9 to lefties in his first seven starts of the campaign. Meanwhile, Harper is sporting a .400 wOBA, .286 ISO, and a 161 wRC+ against right-handed pitching.

With winds blowing out at Citizens Bank Park, Seager has +300 odds to hit a home run while Harper has +285 odds in the same market.

Seattle Mariners at New York Yankees

Nestor Cortes to Record 6+ Strikeouts (-210)
Juan Soto to Record a Run (-155)
Aaron Judge to Record a Hit (-250)

Combined Odds: +216

Pitchers have had plenty of success when it comes to striking out hitters when facing the Seattle Mariners, and that has remained true in the series versus the New York Yankees. Marcus Stroman and Clarke Schmidt have both tallied six Ks in the first two games of the series before Nestor Cortes takes the mound on Wednesday for his 11th start of the year.

Cortes is in just the 51st percentile in chase rate (28.1%), 41st percentile in whiff rate (24.2%), and 55th percentile in strikeout rate (23.3%), but he's in the 89th percentile in xERA (2.70). With Cortes' ability to limit runs, he's pitched six-plus innings in four of his last five appearances.

As for the Mariners, they are logging the third-highest strikeout rate (25.4%) when going up against left-handed pitching. Cortes has posted six-plus Ks in two of his last three games, and both of those contests were at home.

Bryce Miller has begun to show signs of concern on the bump, sitting in the fifth percentile in average exit velocity (91.7 MPH), fifth percentile in barrel rate (12.9%), and 12th percentile in hard-hit rate (46.0%). Considering that Miller has walked multiple batters in nearly half of his nine starts, we'll take Juan Soto to record a run.

Soto leads the Yankees in runs scored (35) while producing a .421 wOBA, .243 ISO, 178 wRC+, and 16.0% walk rate against right-handed pitching. We'll also round out this SGP by taking Aaron Judge to register a hit.

Judge was on an eight-game hitting streak before going 0-for-3 on Tuesday. Additionally, Judge is recording a .403 wOBA, .293 ISO, and 166 wRC+ when facing right-handed pitchers this year.
