Verdict

PERFECT POUR (2) has not been seen since finishing fourth as the favourite on debut over 5 ½f at Pukekohe 4 months ago. He has had two trials to prepare for this return at a far easier level, and he will be a lot stronger this year. Hard to beat. BUTLER CABIN (1) has been freshened since finishing fifth in the Listed Karaka Million 2YO at Ellerslie nearly 6 weeks ago. His form prior was good enough to see him win a race at this level. Stick with him. ST MONICA (7) is a well-bred filly on debut by St Mark's Basilica out of Forbetterforworse, a producer of black-type performers. She has shown ability at the trials, including a recent placing at Ellerslie following a win at the Avondale trials in the spring. Use the market as the best guide. ZIPPIDY (3) has not raced since finishing third in a 4-horse field on debut over 5 ½f at Te Rapa in December. She has top 4 claims from the pole position. SAX APPEAL (6) would have learned a lot from her debut effort at Whanganui. Include at odds.
