Verdict

FREE BIRD (10) won her maiden at Ruakaka last June, and then ran some good races on heavy tracks. She was spotted making up a lot of ground late at Matamata 3 weeks ago when fresh, and the step up from 6f to 7f is the ideal next step. Hard to beat. FLEETING GLIMPSE (5) dropped down into BM60 company here last time out and scored by a head. That win would have been a nice confidence booster, and she can repeat the dose. PLAY IT AGAIN SAM (1) ran on late for third fresh up here 5 weeks ago, and he will start from a superior gate this time. With the space between runs, he should not be bothered by the drop back to 7f. A heavy track is no problem, and he is good enough to take this out. BERENHARD (3) is another who was down in class last time out, and proved to be far too strong at Te Aroha nearly 4 weeks ago, scoring by nearly 2 lengths. He is capable of another big run on his home track.
